Do you think the sex scenes in Veilguard will be "explicit" as the ones in BG3? I kind of like Emmrich and Lucanis so I would not mind steamy scenes with them(especially if they turn out to be hungry bottoms)

I would hope. But I definitely doubt it especially after what we saw out of Andromeda and the treatment we got for m/m romance. The options were slim and both of their scenes were fade to black. Though they did restore Jaal’s romance with Scott. And that was fairly explicit. Nowhere near as Cora’s scene however.

That's the real shame of it. We are always stuck with the morally dubious companion as a love interest. Nothing that fits the ideal which you've described.

Perhaps never from Bioware. They missed out on Alistair for Dragon Age. And Garrus from Mass Effect. The closest you'll ever get that doesn't embody those traits is Gale from Baldur's Gate 3. Sure he's a wizard but he has the same charm as Alistair and is quite handsome.

I was surprised by just how much I ended up liking him, even if he may not be a rugged warrior like Alistair and Cullen.
Hot, nerdy magic man won me over lol.
I'll gladly take him over Dorian, Zevran, and the Veilguard dudes any day.

Now don't get me wrong, I still think those guys are good characters. In fact, Dorian is easily one of my favorite companions. I'm just not attracted to any of them, neither in looks nor personality. And it doesn't help that none of those guys are very romantic, and that they all embody certain negative stereotypes and tropes that I'm really tired of seeing in m/m romance.
And the only thing I'm genuinely ticked off about is that those are our only options, as far as papa Bioware is concerned. We're only ever allowed to have outcast angst, morally gray spies with a fucked up past, and catty, flamboyant queens...

And am I ever thankful for that. I feel like had they not made all the romanceable companions bisexual. All whom would have been avaliable as a m/m romance would've been Astarion. At least that wasn't the case.

The feeling is mutual. Good to hear somebody has a likeminded viewpoint. It boggles me as to why these writers tend to delve into those tropes when developing said character. I don't mean to whine but there's definitely room out there to go outside the box. No need to write the same thing over and over.

I don't like it either. What's the strangest about it is how they keep patting themselves on the back about how these guys bring something new to the table. Or are an inversion of certain characters/archetypes. When it's nothing further from the truth. Hopefully something decent comes from them but I doubt it. I definitely do hope Larian's next project delivers once more. It would suck if BG3 and what it had to offer was just a one time deal.

Late reply but as I figured. There's no explicit sex scenes. The only ones you get are from Davrin and Taash. Everyone else is a fade to black. What's worse is that the romance subplots overall pretty barebones, especially from a Bioware game. Specifically Lucanis, which is a shame cause he was the only one I was somewhat interested in.
