Anki fucking sucks, I forced myself to do it for ~6 months or so before I realized that reading more and writing down all the kanji and words I didn't know every time I had to look them up on the dictionary was somehow less of a torture to me than grinding flash cards. Sure it might not be as efficient, arguably, but at least I don't feel like pulling my eyeballs out of my head while torturing myself in the flash card grind.
It all depends on how your mind works at the end, for me word repetition without context is boring and makes my brain find shortcuts to remember the cards rather than actually memorizing the words, something I noticed because I was consistently looking up words even though I had seen them in Anki the same day.

I suggest trying a mix of both, you can start reading easy manga with furigana for most of the time, while dedicating around 30 min ~ 1 hour every day to try reading news from NHK for example. Mixing up vocabulary universes is a good way to make sure you're having progress.

Your lens is an AF-D lens which requires the camera body to have an autofocus motor that connects to the lens, which the cheaper D3xxx and D5xxxx series don't have.
