To me it seems obvious that Jack's entire arc is building up to him gaining complete self confidence to stop caring about what everyone else thinks, unlike right now where Jack claims to not care while obviously caring. As Jack has pointed out even Yujiro cares to some degree what people think of him and if Jack could overcome that mental hang-up he could surpass his father in that one regard.
This would also make Jack similar to Yuichirou who didn't care much for appearances compared to Yujiro. I think this similarity to his grandfather is also partially why Yujiro is taking an interest in Jack as mindset changes in Baki make you stronger. So if Jack gained the Yuichirou mindset I imagine he would end up getting a power boost that even Yujiro hasn't gained access to which interests him.

Every fight that Hanayama lost was because he would knock the guy down on his as, nearly uncounscious, and then calmly wait for them to get up.
He is doing it again with Jack, that's how he fights, he extends every fight that he takes part in as much as he can, so of course he becomes stronger that way, by experience. Even if he doesn't train particular martial art techniques, as a human being he can't help but become better at brawling for doing it so often, his pattern recognition kicks in and he can now counter attacks before they even land on him like here in the Jack fight. Garouden is not a story like Baki, and that's because Itagaki's idea of strength and Yumemakura's idea of strength are very different.
Itagaki shows strength as something beautiful, to be admired, and it shows with how graceful his fights are despite how violent they are, with Yujiro or Hanayama being shown as mythical and pure. Transcendent, even. It's deeply rooted in this beauty.

What's really funny is how the Netflix Garouden pits the protagonist, who has the latter approach to strength where it's all about survival and ending a fight as soon as possible, against characters who have the former approach to strength. The result is that the fighters who fight for spiritual reasons get soundly defeated by someone who isn't interested in "Playing" and is indeed fighting for his fucking life, and the only character who beats the protagonist only does so by assuming a similar survival mindset.

Jack was also fighting for his life against Pickle and was going all-out to get Pickle to acknowledge him. His first fight with Pickle is probably one of the single most intense fights he's ever had. I'd go as far to say that it was up there with his fight with Baki in the MT, if not more so.
