This. It's not like it wasn't very flawed before, but in contrary to other declining manga, it pretty much sunk into the abyss all of a sudden. The writing flaws that appeared before the ending were typical shonen flaws and not something that could predict just how badly it'd ruin the ending.

Honestly this is why I don't want to buy manga in general. It just goes on for too long. Let's say I like a series and buy 10 volumes but then the next 10 volumes come out in a couple of years and they're complete trash. What do I do? My original collection will be forever incomplete and every time I look at the volumes I own, I'll just remember how the series went to shit.
Books are nicer to buy because they're usually self-contained and a single book doesn't take as much space. Manga is made to be read weekly in a magazine. I don't even want to imagine how I'd feel if I bought One Piece back in the day when it only had a couple of volumes out.

Not exactly manga but I get sad/mad when my favorite character is portrayed the way I don't like in fanart and doujins. If it's a prevalent interpretation of the character that I consider out of character or too cruel towards them it just makes me depressed. Stopped reading it. Sometimes begin avoiding external material or discussing it at all in an attempt to forget about it.

But I do understand destruction, I feel as if authors occasionally need to be reminded that they are not great writers of epics, and that their work is imperfect and may in fact be terrible. And just as readers who destroy works can be considered petty, authors themselves (and artists in general) are as well. It may very well be that bad/ruined endings are intentional and done so to spite their editors/publishers/readers and so on, or as revenge for some matter in their career. Receiving a destructive reaction to their work after doing exactly that is just entirely deserved.
