Basically yes. Queen Bee is actually a living Bee that has a quirk that allows her to create a colony inside a host's brain by eating some of the brainmatter and placing the eggs inside like a parasite. The Queen Bee becomes a combination of the Bee's personality and the hosts with a huge desire to protect her hive. Trying to stop her will just end with the Queen Bee escaping and finding another host to inhabit, and side effects of those affected by it are loss of bowel and motor function, along with decreased impulse control like what happens to Pop Step later on.

I think its like X-Men. Higher population density, higher chance people with strange or dangerous quirks awaken and the government struggles more to notice them. Like that Wolverine comic where the kid awakens an anti-life aura and corrodes everyone in the city so he has to be put down.
Expect lots of black suits like Hawks suddenly swooping in and "unpersoning" citizens that are deemed too dangerous or whose quirks are too useful for the government. Outside of that, lots of flashy heroes to keep the public entertained.

I feel like every top hero has some form of flight or superspeed. You see it with Celebrity and S&S and it makes sense since they need to be able to at a minimum be able to rapidly respond to threats in their home state. It doesn't come up in comics but it's roughly 300 miles going from New York to Buffalo and since most hero work is accident/disaster relief the big name heroes have to be able to cover that distance in minutes.

One thing I can imagine is that hero talent flocks to the populated coasts and small time supervillains skate by in the relatively unpopulated midwest. Sure there'd still be heroes but they'd be pretty much limited to their home city just due to the sheer distance between cities.

What the first two responses said are important. We're only nearing the end of the first cour, the first 12 episodes, so Koichi hasn't undergone most of his character development yet. He hasn't had many big moments and his quirk is still nowhere as strong as something you'd see in MHA.

However, Koichi does still have characterisation that makes him more likable than Deku for me. He's a college student granting him far more autonomy and maturity, he genuinely likes helping others beyond heroism regardless of how petty it is and he has shown he has his limits with people when the situation calls for it. He's also generally good at handling his own emotions. The girl he is primarily interested in is an older girl that treats him well and has expressed interest in dating him. And he has had two or three major breakthroughs in developing his quirk already.

As for traits you may dislike, he is weak at this stage of the story. He is a bit of a pushover around more aggressive people. He dislikes the idea of killing even violent people, he is dense about Kazuho liking him (albeit he views her as a kid or little sister so that makes sense), is tone deaf regarding social interactions.

If you don't mind the flaws I listed or can accept them with the idea that he will develop a lot over the story then you will likely like Koichi a lot more than Deku.

It's fine for the protagonist to have a power, and even a very strong power too. Just initially make him an underdog who is forced to go through the trials to become stronger and find creative ways to utilize his power before it kicks into gear. Koichi showcases this pretty well, as well as Tokio from Choujin.

Honestly, no shot freshman Deku could have taken down any villains quirkless. His starting physical stats are below average, and the vast majority of that is genetics. You can increase them to about 30% more of what you have just walking around through training, but if you're not naturally strong it's over. No one's entrusting an Iron Man suit to a quirkless high schooler either. He'd get destroyed trying to fight even small time villains with basic support items.

I'm a bit into /k/ stuff so I can't help but think that there'd be a lot of potential in an anime that focuses more on the "engineers doing hardware stuff" side of things.
At the very least, I came up with a cool quirk idea where you've a guy who can strap machinery to himself and gattai with stuff. That alone has a ton of potential IMO but it goes unused.
In general, Japanese anime that's gets famous generally focuses a lot on the "power inside the person" though, which at least in part kind of the opposite.
Imagine an MHA spinoff where a government goon, or a terrorist org villain, is basically going around strapping all this experimental tech to himself. And then at the climax you can throw in something really insurmountable, like a superweapon that believably amps the guy to those end-game levels.

What's more is that I thought of it as being more than just putting it on the person like a bolt-on.
The quirk could take in the machine into the flesh, basically becoming another muscle. When the quirk gets better, you could even let the guy rearrange it to more intricate or appropriate machinery if he knows how to make it.
An absorbed computer could start out simply doing basic instructions, but by the end-game it could be translating his will into code (as long as it's plausible to do with code).
With the main weaknesses being stamina related and maybe materials related. Can't keep everything stocked up forever, I mean.
Something like turning your hand into an energy weapon based on a stolen laser weapon, a targeting computer to help your brain aim while you put wheels on your legs driven by an absorbed motor, balancing using an absorbed gyro, it'd be kind of wicked.

Deku's only problem was Hori deciding he didn't care about developing his personality anymore.
Their came a point where he just couldn't be bothered to write moments of introspection where Deku could come to terms with the things developing around him, and his character was stuck in this half-form state for the lime half the manga

Vigilante high schooler Deku is not obtaining a gun. Guns have been shown to be very rare outside the government and usually need connections to organized crime to obtain them illicitly. There's really not that much he can use to overcome the physical and technical disparity between him and the villains unless he just ambushes the smallest time villains, basically women with bad quirks and schoolkids, with a pipe and wires.
He could still age up and become a cop as All Might suggested, but the cops suck and I don't think we've ever seen the cops take down a villain without the help of pro heroes.

Also I like the sense of community everyone has in this series given the smaller scale of the conflicts and the recurring characters. I teared up when everyone teamed up at the end to help Koichi fight the villain and rescue people.
