I’ll admit, I watched Naruto as a kid, but I only really got into anime years later - right around the time when pretentious weebs started flooding every anime community.
In a classic case of hating what I used to be, I’ve grown tired of people approaching anime like they’re chasing some “deep” or “unusual” masterpiece, while dismissing anything that’s just plain fun to watch.
Now that every idiot watches anime on the daily, YouTube analysis videos are getting more and more popular. And I’m constantly reminded of it thanks to the algorithm pushing Gigguk-type content into my recommendations.
When does the fad end? When do we go back to being seen as creepy pedos again?

It will never change. There will always be weebs who think they’re better than the rest because they stood up and clapped at the elevator scene in Evangelion while everyone else was waiting for the robot fights and titties.

>When does the fad end? When do we go back to being seen as creepy pedos again?
You already are, the difference is just that there's more people who like anime and you're already entrenched in some form of community.
I would honestly say that the one type of internet community that has changed the least is the general anime community. Whenever people talk about how it has changed, they just show how they progressed from one part of it to the other, both of which already existed. Here's the layers, from superficial to deep.
>Casual Communities
These are your Facebook groups (now Discords), comment sections, and surface level bloggers (which became weekly chapter reviewers, and are now the modern 'anituber'), stuff like that. Most people will invariably start here.
>"The Anime Community"
This is when those people progress to logging sites and join the MAL forums, or the anime subforum on their site of choice.
A modern day equivalent would be joining an anime specific discord or following anime specific liveposters.
>The Anime Community
This is where /a/ is, and it is when one reaches anime specific bloggers (huge difference), seeks out sites known for anime discussion, and eventually settles on a niche they primarily spend their time in (back when 4chan was alive that could boil down to /a/, /c/, /cm/, /cgl/, /m/, etc., people would genuinely spend most of their time on one of these boards, though /a/ got most of the traffic).
In the modern day I guess 4chan is still here, but now this would also include forums specifically about anime or specific groups.

Nah, all those shows in OP pic related are better than your average Shonen, and i will use the word moeshit unironically to shit on any Harem, SoL, Romcom or Light Novel anime until the day I die.

Sorry but these aspects don't apply to the same people. Most of the people "approaching anime" now are FOTM sloppers that are Shonen only. You are having a classic case of thinking everyone is the same person. It's more likely that the "pretentious" people are from before the quarantine anime boom.

You’re the cancer ruining anime by the way, anime will never be able to achieve true artistic greatness if it’s full of pedo and incest slop that scares away the normies. More Nausicaas less Kodomo no Jikans please.

Dude, just enjoy the shows that you like and drop the ones you don't. Pretentious weebs aren't a new thing but they aren't going anywhere. Stop watching youtube essays.
Eva and NHK are among my favorite anime but I think Ghost in the Cell is fucking boring.

I like new anime fans more than the guys who've been discussing the same 20 anime for the last 30 years.

I post about lots of anime and try to encourage people to watch new and different things all the time. Genres don't stay popular forever, so to consistently enjoy anime you need to widen your scope of experience otherwise you'll overlook a lot of 10/10 anime.

Yeah I remember you shilling Lazarus
Anonymous No.279706841 [Report] >>279707167

I did not even watch Lazarus yet but that is indeed a popular anime as I expected. Zoomers do not shut up about it and think it is amazing. Is it good? I have no idea! The only anime that got popular outside of my predictions was ballpark, because that manga was pretty gosh dang awful, but they really did a good job fixing the pacing and the joke delivery. But as expected, the atto anime was good, the shaft anime was good, (although it sadly abandoned all of its budget like 2 episodes in) and the gundam anime was good. All things within my usual wheelhouse. I especially see a lot of Gundam discussion on shonen oriented Japanese image boards, so that's a pretty good sign. I hope Ruri Rocks will turn out well, because I don't want to drown in trigger and kyoani shit next season, which will no doubt be explosively popular.

I don't like chainsawman either, but I always leave new things alone, because by being new they have inherent value. If there's still CSM threads 20 years from now, then yeah, we're gunna have a problem. I'm not fighting some gay culture war where I'm attempting to abort ideas in the womb. However, a season without things I like will be pretty miserable for me, personally. Other than ruri, there are several shows I suspect might be fun, (food court for example) adaptations of manga I like but anime I don't much care for like the very strange and late second season adaptation of Grand Blue as well. But if ruri sucks it'll likely be a pretty boring and torturous season for me.
