What Kazuya should learn more than keeping his emotions in check is that giving up and just let things happen is not a bad thing per se. It would make him look at things more objectively.
If Kazuya failed with the date, it was because of being hardheaded and not listening to what Mini and others said, he was dead set into whiteknighting and showing himself as the best boyfriend, and only began to consider Mini's words after being struck with reality.

Still i think that, aside of his overflowing emotions and toxic willpower, he should keep his mouth shut and his impulses in check too. Telling Mini it didn't work will bite him in the ass.
