This anon does not know what a degree is.
But yes, it makes sense that a group would have minimum proficiency requirements. The fact that they even need to say that they're not accepting MTLfags says a lot.

>minimum N3
LMAO, I'm N3 in Japanese (3500 vocab, 1000 kanji, 1000 hours of listening, 50 hours of reading), and there's no way I'm anywhere near good enough to translate. I still need a dictionary and google/chatgpt to babysit me through even basic stuff. And that's just with run of the mill shounen slop with barely any words like Demon Slayer or Chainsaw Man. Anything more complex or wordy and I'm completely lost. N2 should probably be the bare minimum for fansubs. For professional translation work, you would need N1 most likely. And even N1 doesnโ€™t guarantee real proficiency when it comes to nuance.

You are just describing a standard exam.
To pass the bar you need solid knowledge. Some N1 grammar points you will see them relatively rarely IRL for example, if you fail those questions it doesn't mean you cannot understand the vast majority of content available.

"standard exam"
well ignoring the fact that getting a 50% on an exam will affect your grade completely different from a 100%...
yes some n1 grammar points are rare. but there are also a ton of common grammar points(usually colloquial)that you aren't even tested on. the test is pointless, i.e. a scam.

>You can pass the test while only getting half the questions right
Most of the time you can't.
The JLPT uses a weighted grading system. That means if you get the easy questions wrong, the hard ones will be worth less.

No, akirameru is an ichidan and the passive/potential for ichidan verbs is -rareru. The passive/potential for godan verbs is -reru. That anon is correct about "akiramerareru".
Yomu is a godan verb, ่ชญใ‚ใ‚‹ is its "short potential" form (which is just a contraction of ่ชญใ‚€ in its renyoukei + the verb ๅพ—ใ‚‹)
