Right, gather 'round, you casuals, because we need to talk about Sasuke Uchiha. Not the Sasuke of Shippuden, who actually gets some nuance injected into his trauma-addled brain, nor the adult Sasuke who vaguely resembles a functional human. No, I'm talking about Part 1 Sasuke. The emo, brooding, perpetually constipated edgelord who, upon critical re-evaluation, is not just annoying, but fundamentally a horrible character, and not in the compelling "villain we love to hate" way. More in the "why is anyone tolerating this brat?" way.
His entire character arc, if you can even call it that in Part 1, is built on a foundation of monomaniacal, self-absorbed vengeance. We get it, Itachi killed your clan. Tragic. Truly. But does every single interaction, every training session, every moment of screen time have to revolve around this singular, suffocating goal? It renders him incapable of genuine connection, growth, or even basic strategic thinking beyond "I must get stronger to kill Itachi." Itโs less a motivation and more a convenient excuse for him to be an insufferable edgelord cunt.

Sasuke had no intention of fighting Gaara to begin with. Amaterasu takes more toll on the sharingan, there was no need to waste it on Gaara when Sasuke was aiming for Danzo, and that's what he did.
