Cuttlefish did a post-CoI authors commentary where he lead with "I'm never writing a sequel again!" because of how many plotlines and characters he had to juggle with CoI and frankly it shows.
Honestly, I think tying the Tarot Club to Lumian from the inception was the worst mistake he made.
Lumian is hilariously OP from the beginning, by being a dual pathway Hunter/Dancer and it only gets more absurd the further in you get To the point of also switching to the demoness pathway, and getting the bonuses of having swapped pathways and getting mutated abilities

Tencent/Qidian really is holding back the shilling budget here. The 50 cent army shilled more for the WN than it did for the donghua. CR doesn't seem to take it seriously either. No announcement, just quietly adding LotM to their schedule, even the info about CR hosting it ended up sparingly come from literally-who third party sites. It's as if no one responsible even cares about international success of LotM, which seems strange considering how all-in the actual investment into the series seems to be. All CF had to do was to write Tarot Club adventures while Klein sleeps and it would sell even better than LotM.
Unfortunately we got CoI with boring MC, boring sidekicks, disappointing antagonist for like half of the story (April Fool's) and literally the only interesting parts were when characters from LotM made appearance. Add to that Lumian being super-duper special OC donutsteel that has all the powers, can withstand all the corruption, doesn't need to act or do rituals and fucks the girls (boys). In the vol6+ we literally almost don't have any insight into what is he thinking, he's just riding the rails of the written story without any inupt from himself. Shame since at the start I was liking his street smarts, cockiness and really wanted to see him creating his own beyonder team for the future hunter sequences.

The major downside is that there's way too much slice of life and downtime in between all the really interesting parts of the plot.
Also don't ever bother reading the sequel it's trash.
