So you don't get Deux's story, but you get the "taste" of it through her design, and it isn't pleasant.

Overall, I think if it was just 12 episodes of a nice little side story in UC/an alt UC like war in the pocket and those ovas but with less stakes, it would be interesting. Same as if it was just 12 episodes of pure plot and exploration of a zen-dominant world and how it spits apart 3 teens that were friends. They just put all their eggs in one basket and tried to tell so many stories that wouldn't be possible to pull off without rushing.

Clan battles would have been more original. Get rid of the zeon thing or just make it be in a UC/timeline where clan battles don't affect anything much, then it'll be a nice in-between from the harmless tournament of build fighters and the serious Gundam fights of most mainline series. It'll be more of a sport type of Gundam battle, which would be kind of refreshing.
If it wasn't the 45th anniversary, it would make for a nice series, but unfortunately the importance of the event weighing on this series forces it to be more than it realistically can be.
