They had like a brainwashed 10-year-old child soldier killed off and then tried to sidestep it. They never showed the impact Shiiko's death had on her family, either. GQUX doesn't aim to be a heavy anime, and sidesteps that shit where it can. A lot of the fucked up stuff ends up being window dressing that isn't explored or elaborated upon all that much.
