If that's the case, it means her love of Purirun wasn't the most precious thing as she assumed after all. That has to sting like hell. Meroron isn't just keeping Purirun away from the girls—she's keeping herself away from them too.

I feel it took inspiration more from Go!Princess with a Splash Star aesthetic. If they made Asumi a less boring character, gave Hinata way more focus and made Daruizen the final boss, that would've been a big improvement already. It's a season that tries to dare, and then gets really boring. DP gets way better in its finak cour while HS stays milquetoast throughout its whole run with just some good moments sprinkled in

KiraKira Precure A La Review 15!

A very sweet episode, maybe a little too sweet for my liking, but its been two days and Aoi stuck with me the most.

Today the girls are making chocolates! Specifically Akira for her little sister. As they discuss the weak girl, when the devil herself pops in much to Akira's surprise. As Akira sees what's up the girls treat this Proto Nodoka to all the sweets where she begs for employment after buttering everyone up. When Akira gets back Miku is already dressed for work. Miku starts off taking orders from all the Ojou-samas, but quickly realizes she can't keep them all straight in her head; Akira saved them for her. Feeling inadequate Miku is sent to the kitchen to help Himari and Aoi. While Aoi threatens to sing Himari to death, Miku gets to decorating cookies. The cookies are so bad they are all cute, but little Miku is still embarrassed. Finally Ichika takes Miku shopping where Miku tells all how much Akira means to her and the lucky charms that is Akira's chocolate. Ichika ready to help Miku show her appreciation to Akira start back, but Rio appears dropping that they should make a chocolate cake! Ichika kicks Akira out by having Yukari take her on a date. Now Miku can make her cake in peace. Once all of Miku's feelings are in the cake, Akira returns just in time to catch Miku in a trip. Now its time to try the mountain of chocolate frosted cake in the shape of a dog; Akira is touched! And just like that Julio attacks. Much like Himari's autistic rage, Akira goes into the Onee-chan attack mode and Chocolate lays down the law before Julio has much of a chance. We end with Akira riding the bus back with Miku. Cooking Lesson?! How to make a chocolate cake dog with 90% frosting.

This plot is kind of a reversal of the typical mid-season Cure debut. Typically we get drama first > then debut > then things slow down a bit.

Here the debut is more upfront, then the drama comes later. You could say it's a smart way of debuting the extra Cures early (because that's the rule nowadays, their toys are coming out earlier) while making the actual climax happen at a similar point of the oldschool mid-season debuts (aka, it really happened around the mid-point instead of ep17-19).

The lock was built up for a couple of episodes before it was used. That's plenty enough time. Not every plot device has to be built up from episode one. It being cursed was a bit of a shock but not entirely out of nowhere. The fact that it belonged to Meroron was a pretty big red flag most people dismissed because their expectations for the season were out of line with what the season was really trying to do.

I think it's less that her debut was "phoned in" and more that it didn't follow the DP/HS/WP pattern of having a long build up, it was more akin to Yes5/Smile-like debuts in quick sucession, and people aren't used to those anymore.
I also liked the nana fushigi episodes, but in general yeah she's a bit drowned by the other flashy characters, not a dealbreaker imo every season has a Cure that gets the short end of the stick, maybe most of her content is during cour 3 and 4.
