Isn't it just Shoujo Mousou-chuu (2017), the YagaKimi spin-off LNs (2018) and End Blue, half of which was a sequel to Shoujo Mousou-chuu? They're all Kadokawa, same as AdaShima. YagaKimi was Kadokawa's big yuri hit in 2017 so getting Nakatani to illustrate one of their yuri novels is kind of an obvious thing to do. Just don't expect much, it's a very uninspired adaptation that is technically alright (CGI aside) but messes up event order for no reason (creating glaring plot holes). You'll get the most out of it if you like action and antics, but it fails to capture both the horror and the yuri aspects well. If you don't want to read the original novels, the manga is highly regarded as a really good visual adaptation.
The anime did have a great OP and really good character design and voice cast, so there's that at least. People who went into the anime before the novels or the manga mostly didn't hate it either.
