To be honest, I feel that Gquuuux is better at the mecha (they're more closely tied to the story) and the romance is better, too.
The problem with G-Witch is that Suletta barely had any idea of romance, and Miorine came across as extremely pushy. It felt like she was taking advantage of someone with a mild learning disability. More, the fetish aspect of the relationship (schoolgirl lesbians) sort of eclipsed anything meaningful about it.
Worse was the fact that Suletta clearly liked dudes, so she sort of got forced and badgered into being a lesbian.

Unicorn took a years to complete. Meanwhile, AGE happened, and then we got G-Reco and Build Fighters at the same time, then an animated The Origin, IBO, and Thunderbolt at the same time, etc. etc. etc.
I'm not taking into account manga, novels, and games because I'm not as caught up on this stuff. Point being, Bamco's eggs are much more spread out.
(The SEED movie was due not long after Destiny/Stargazer as a way to capstone the Cosmic Era, but of course, Morosawa's cancer and death were hugely impactful on Fukuda and the entire production).

Should I try and give Witch From Mercury a second chance? I didn't really like the lack of agency from the MC. When you think about it, Asticassia's pilot program is just a glorified space forklift school. Like even the M&W book mentions only one or two modules for pilot students are actually about MS combat. All the other modules for pilots are just stuff like "mobile suit and mobile craft operation" or "MS&MC industrial collaboration" and "MS&MC regulations". In other words, it's not really even a test pilot school for Gundams. It's a fucking test pilot school for space forklifts. What do students do after graduation? Evidently they just mostly pilot space forklifts or maintain space forklifts, or sell space forklifts. Almost all the background stuff we see students do is about those fucking forklifts. The last we see of Chuchu and Rouji, is a shot of them fooling around in space forklifts. Guel dreamed of joining Dominicus, but he just ended up as a space forklift manufacturer. Suletta's dream school on Mercury would've probably just ended up being a fucking space forklift school.
