It was the perfect ending for me.
Her sacrificing her human form and dancing as her true duck self was an amazing finale.
They didn't pussy out at the end and didn't make her a human again, but they left the door open for fakir to turn her into a human again.
Even if she remains a duck fakir will stay with her forever.
Perfect bittersweet ending that ends on a hopeful note.

idk I think free will and destiny can coexist in a way. We see over stuff like Jojo and The Matrix tackle with these themes. We see Arihu follow her fate yet she still has control over what she has done in the end, I'm fine with a bittersweet ending. We can be destined for things but it still involves our active participation in it. God's will if you will. Anyways Princess Tutu is pretty great for getting meta like this at the end as it doesn't break the fairy tale-ness of it like how most fourth wall breaks do

Actually amazing cast, the change in all 4 of them from the beginning molds of "story characters" to "real people" was great. The consistant escalation of the plot and later musical notes like Great Gate of Kiev when Ahiru realizes the last of the shards are in the gates upholding reality as a story written, actual gnostic mess where the story of the prince and the raven was written into a loop where the shards of his soul needed hidden in the material written creation in the author's final moments.
