The problem with adapting LOTM (besides the fact that it takes place so much inside Klein's headspace and reading books and hearing things second and third hand) is it relies on lots of little stories incidents that seem completely unrelated until they coalesce just at the end into a major climax as all the MYSTERIES come together. Part 1 is the most egregious of this but it's a pattern that continues in every arc and the story as a whole. Relying on spectacle, the director doesn't seem to be interested in what makes LOTM LOTM.
