Is this the perfect speed for watching anime?
>>280259440 (OP)Japan has casual anime fans, news at 11.
>>280259440 (OP)for me it's 2-2.5x
>doesn't actually link the source
>>280259495>>doesn't actually link the sourceOP used the skip function
Wouldn't surprise me considering how fried modern people's attention spans are.
>>280259440 (OP)if the show is really good x1
if its okay or im a few weeks behind x1.1 and you cant tell the difference.
sometimes 1.2 but at that speed dialogue starts to run into each other, although i did watch naruto/boruto at 1.5x and that made it watchable because so much of that is dead air, literal holding shots between dialogue sentences to pad out time
Anime fans watch at 1x speed. Anyone else is just consuming it because itโs trendy.
>>280259440 (OP)>gendai ismedia-magazine
>>280259440 (OP)1.5x speed is normalwatching and not newsworthy.
>>280259440 (OP)I watch anime at 2-2.5x speed. Not to save time, but because it makes me enjoy it more.
>>280259440 (OP)1,5x is perfect.
If I enjoy a thing, why would I want to spend less time enjoying it?
If I don't enjoy a thing, why would I want to spend any time at all on it?
I've started watching things at 1.5x or so simply because I'm more interested in the story than the animation.
Not entire episodes, just parts.
My brain can just keep up, though.
>>280259440 (OP)The japanese have spoken.
>>280259469i mean, the 1.5x speed phenomenon happens everywhere not just japan. as stated in the short tweet news blurb, it's not a casual/anime tourist thing but a time and saturation issue
I watch it at normal speed but with my finger on the arrow key to jump 5 seconds when it gets boring which is pretty often
>>280259688Only sane post itt.
As if manga speedreaders weren't cancerous enough already.
>>280259688I find it more enjoyable at 1.5x than x1 speed, that's all
How does /a/ do it? Etc etc etc
>>280259440 (OP)If you have adhd, sure.
I watch anime while full autoing my gachas to be time efficient
>>280259688This. I watch at 0.75x so there's more of the thing I like.
Tiktok was such a mistake.
>>280259973Anything other tha 1x fucks up the sounds, just admit you don't actually like anime and are just following trends.
>>280260022Why would an antisocial 4 chan user follow trends?
>>280259440 (OP)This reflects the quality and pacing of anime productions.
have you see anime quality right now. it was designed to be played at 2x
>>280259440 (OP)>some fans only watch few episodes and then watch the shows summary on YoutubeI have no words
>>280260194My brother forms his opinion about anime entirely on that mothers basement guys videos
>>280260155One Piece is designed to be played at 10x
>>280260238>mothers basementFuck I remember watching some of that guy ten years ago and thinking it was an unsufferable faggot and why anyone would listen to him over someone like Grumpy Jiisan
Truth be told I was already 20 back then, so maybe your brother is a little kid and has no frame of reference
>>280259440 (OP)>according to a poll we did on twitterIt's always shit like this. It means nothing.
>>280259440 (OP)>twitter screenshots>facebook screenshotswhy?
Why are 1x watchers so defensive whenever they find more people are likely to speedrun the anime?

I had coworkers that would listen to narrated summaries of anime/manga on Youtube
>>280259440 (OP)>Japanese fans>Is all retarded zoomers
The tiktokbrain is real and it's going to destroy the world.
>>280259730>1.5x speed phenomenonIt's called low attention span. This is caused by modern media mostly smartphones.
>>280261929I mean my attention span is bad too but if i ever considered speeding up/skipping over part of a movie i would simply stop watching.
>>280261929ใit's the anime's fault for not valueing my attension
>>280259440 (OP)Speedwatching is only acceptable for boring or just badly paced anime, but if it's that bad you should be questioning why you're watching at all. But if you have to watch all your anime at 1.5x speed for it to grasp your thimble-sized attention span, it's too late for you, NGMI.
>>280261427>>280261929Yeah. The tiktok generation's attention span is way more fucked than mine is, but I actually have diagnosed and fairly severe ADHD as an excuse. The kids are just fucking cooked, nothing but boiled minced meat in their skulls. I'm not looking forward to the future being surrounded by (even more) braindead retards.
>>280259440 (OP)>not watching multiple series at the same time at 3x speedFucking casuals.
>>280259440 (OP)Zoomers are subhumans, more news at 11.
>>280261929it's not that. they just put value on the overall content rather than the enjoyment.
they're taking everything in at 1.5x while subconsciously filtering out the unimportant fluff bits of the episode.
short attention span would be playing with your phone while you're watching or you're not taking in the episode because you're thinking about something else
Some shows are unironically better at 1.2x
>>280259440 (OP)It's unironically how I watch modern FOTM.
I notice that I stop doing that shit if I just watch old fun stuff.
>>280262754why aren't you skipping the opening baka
>>280259440 (OP)Not every anime is worth your time, the next pill is understanding you don't need to watch everything, some simply aren't worth your attention.
>>280260194I've seen people in certain generals on this very website say they read wiki summaries instead of actually watching the show
>>280263726Even if they are a 7/10?
>>280259688This. It makes no sense. "I like watching anime, so I'm gonna make sure it lasts less." The fuck?
>>280263746If you don't feel like watching it, you should drop it desune, your time is too short to get hungup on a show that will be forgotten, or watching something just to "fit in".
>>280262222You should import 20 gorillion niggers and that might make it better for you.
>>280263792alright.

Been thinking of rewatching Gintama.
>>280259440 (OP)Just read manga, lol

>but don't you DARE turn up the speed you heathen!!!
>>280259440 (OP)I just read a synopsis and say I watched it if it is relevant to the zeitgeist, I feel that is the quickest way.
1.1 is actually good. Everything above 1.1 is retarded.
Only if you using multiple windows
>>280259973I pause a lot to look up Japanese words or cultural references and take screenshots and make webms to post on /a/. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to watch a 24 minute episode

>>280259730>>280259440 (OP)It's why I only watch 2-4 a season at most. Sometimes I only watch 1 show a season. I'd rather enjoy consuming and discussing one show than wolf down a lot of shows just to say that I did. It's like eating dessert. It's better to have one piece of dessert you get to enjoy than just wolf down 5 pieces of different cakes just to say that yo ate them
>>280259440 (OP)If you watched Hibimeshi you would understand why would someone use the 2x speed...
>>280259688What about the gray area of "I like this part, but I dislike this part"? I'm more a manga guy than anime, but I remember panels and pages of the authors idiotic philosophy that I glazed over, I don't see why that couldn't apply to anime.

>>280275029>Either 1x or 0x, anything else is mental illness.correct - speedreaders are bad enough. people are misrepresenting or misunderstanding plot points, they're just not paying attention and/or mentally ill.
The real lightbulb moment is realising that seasonal tv anime is not worth your time even sped up.
>>280259440 (OP)>twitter thread>awful takethis must be the work of a shitty OP
>>280259440 (OP)This is peak consoomerism.
I will never fucking understand subhuman speedwatchers, just fucking do something else with your time if you're not interested, who the fuck forces you to watch this?
The only people more subhuman than this are fuckers who watch video game playthroughs on youtube instead of playing them themselves to save time. What fucking mental illness makes people do this?
After watching anime at 1x my entire life I tried to watch an episode at 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x. I wanted to at least have an educated opinion on the issue. At first I tried it on a regular seasonal anime (Watari-kun) and then I tried it on one of my favorite anime (Zeta).
That was fucking nonsense, the soundstage was all fucked up. If you care at all about voice acting then it is a nonstarter. Literally no emotion can be felt at all when I tried to watch more impactful scenes. Action scenes had no weight.
I would rather watch 1 anime at normal speeds than watch 2 anime in the same amount of time. People watching it at higher speeds aren't getting the most out of it obviously but I think they aren't even getting the minimum out of it.
This experience has left me paranoid too, now every time I see someone say "this doesn't make sense" or "this didn't have impact" I will think they watched the episode/series at 1.5 or something.
>>280259486Same here. Sometimes x3 if its really slow paced like fucking Blue Reflection Ray. What a shit show
>>280259440 (OP)I've seen people do the same thing with movies or series.
I don't get why. Especially with anime an episode is only 20-24 minutes. Even if you watch multiple anime per season that maybe 2-3 hours per week.
>>280259688Right? If I'm bored with something I'm just going to drop it.
>>280276390>What fucking mental illness makes people do this?Friends, both actual friends and social media "friends". You need to be able to talk about and discuss current thing to not be left out. Even if you don't like it. Even if you'd rather be doing something else.
I just pirate anime and then hold down the forward key with auto play next in folder. I've probably watched more anime than any elitist chud on this board by now. Soon I will complete MAL and be the god of /a/
My normalfag mythomaniac friend once told me he "had watched one piece" in a week.
I have written a script using the MAL API that allows me to watch and rate every single anime within an hour or two (MAL WILL rate limit or even ban you, if you try to send too many requests at once.)
>>280259688True however if my patience is wearing thin with a show and it's the last episode or two then I don't mind sticking it on x2 speed since I can still understand it but I don't have to suffer through it for 20 minutes.
If I get sick of a show before that though then I drop it.
>>280259688Depends.
I used the skip function a lot during Gintama because some of the jokes fall flat, but to constantly watch a show at 1.5x+ speed is crazy.
>>280259688The idea that anyone could think differently makes me irrationally angry
>>280259440 (OP)That anime in the pic has to be one of the most dogshit shows ever created
>>280259440 (OP)I can slightly understand this if you compare it to what we experience with watching dubs. Plodding, repetitive dialogue gets more annoying for me in English than in Japanese. Take for example Dondochakka, his verbal tic is -de ariusu at the end of every sentence and in the dub itโs DONTCHA KNOW?? which is insufferable. The voice actors are 100x better with jap audio though. 1.5x speed is still insane though, the show isnโt good if you have to speedrun it
>>280259440 (OP)i'll go 2x~3x speed if i'm just trying to finish a series.
1x speed when i like it and want it to last as long as possible.
this has to be an elaborate troll like domesticated garloids right? if you watch anything sped up the sound will get all fucked like alvin and the chipmunks. who could possibly watch anything like that?
I've been doing this a while, especially the skip function. Not just in while but TV and movies as well. There is a lot of filler dialogue or scenes that don't matter so I can safely skip ahead while still completely grasping the story. It allows me to watch entire series in like 1.5 hours instead of 6
>>280259440 (OP)I love Sayu very very much.
>>280282685>or scenes that don't matterYou can't know that unless you've watched it already. That one scene you thought didn't matter might have been the one with an important detail you shouldn't have missed. People do that then come here and talk about things coming out of nowhere with no foreshadowing and other misunderstandings.
>It allows me to watch entire series in like 1.5 hours instead of 6Why? It's not a job. The good thing about a 6 hours series is that it allows you to kill time for 6 whole hours. You've watched it all in 1.5 hours and now you have to find something new to watch, which you probably will also do at 2x speed. What is the point?
>>280282615that hasn't been a problem for awhile. if you simply speed up a video then yeah, it'll fuck the audio alvin and the chipmunks style. but any competent video player will have digital signal processing that can maintain pitch at any speed.
i think youtube was the first ones to implement it. i have an addon that lets me speed up video as much as i want, and it's not until you get to past 4x speed that it starts breaking down.
>>280263388>short attention span would be playing with your phone while you're watchingThey do that too.

The optimal way to watch anime is to get so drunk you don't even remember if you watched the episode at all the next day. Best way to complete a few seasonals
