I liked the first chapter of Ping Pong Peril. The underground ping pong vibe is intense, but if it’s only about ping pong, it might get boring fast. I’d love to see other shady underground stuff to keep it fresh. Putting “Ping Pong” in the title feels limiting though.

5/10. It had an interesting premise and really good art, but it's obvious that the author has no idea what to do with the script. The story so far looks like a beginner's playthrough of Dragon Quest with the names of the characters and places changed to names from a Wikipedia article on Nordic mythology. In addition, the author constantly adds an excess of elements and text boxes in his pages that distract the reading and worsen the action sequences, which are mediocre mos of the time.

1/10. I only read the first chapter before dropping it. The art is bad, the main characters were unlikable, and none of the gags made me smile. Even Murakami, a gag manga that almost everyone hated, was more funny than this. Maybe the jokes are too Japanese for me...

In terms of whats on the table I’d say it’s in this order (most likely to die at front):

1st batch: Nice Prison, Otr, Kiyoshi
2nd batch: Ekiden Bros, Otr/Ping Pong, Harukaze/Kaedegami/Kiyoshi
3rd batch: <new series?>, Otr/Ping Pong, Haru/Kaede/Kiyoshi

Essentially, I 100% expect Nice Prison gone next batch and Ekiden the one after. Depending on how big each batch is at which point determines who might die, and Kiyoshi being impossible to solve plus Ping Pong being brand new puts them in a confusing spot.

Either way I don’t think they would/should kill anything above Shinobi that isn’t Kiyoshi or an old series ending naturally (again not gonna be bold and say Kiyoshi’s definitely ending but if it’s Shinobi vs Hima vs Kiyoshi being picked from I’m pretty sure Kiyoshi is the most likely of those to go)

Kiyoshi is currently the best ranking out of the three, have gotten a anniversary cover and is getting more color pages, they will not axe it, at this point it's wild to even consider the series being in any type of danger for the rest of the year

Gachiakuta is a manga I've followed since it first released (it only had about ten chapters or so when I started reading it) so it's kind of surreal to have followed something from inception to anime announcement. So I'm sure it's going to be weird to hear that my current feelings about the source material are that it's...pretty good. It's big distinguishing feature is author/artist's Kei Urana's radically stylish, graffiti inspired aesthetic, crazy double spreads and unique paneling. Story wise there's alot of familiar beats to it and an anime only who's sick of shonen might not be blown away by this first episode. I think this would've benefited from a double episode, since the anime hasn't even gotten through the complete introduction that established what the story will be like.
