Pretty Holic made a whole deal out of Idol Precure and ZukyoonKiss being rivals, only for the episode to end without saying who won in the campaign. This was 100% intended; it hammered in the theme that these two groups weren't meant to literally be rivals. The goal, in the story's context, was just to allow an opportunity for fans to hype about the Precure on both sides. I love how the atmosphere at Pretty Holic (portrayed by the two random fans at the event) helped illustrate this; there's no toxicity from the general public, despite the event's nature. The only toxicity to be had was, hilariously, within the group (Kokoro and Meroron). And even that eventually died down.
I think this episode was, to an extent, an interesting poke at how fans, especially for Precure, can be so devoted to what and who they love, they'd get all uptight and bitter with each other. And, this episode is trying to show that this isn't what fans truly want as a community. We'd be better off celebrating our shared passions together, even if they are somewhat different.
As seen from this episode, there is no real need to slander one another's praises or compare our favourites. Especially in the Precure context, we're all just loving the same thing in different ways. Both the Pretty Holic campaign and the Cook-off this episode displayed that our innocent, giddy feelings for what and who we love are valid, regardless of where it's directed at and how we choose to express it.
Based on the fandom's current climate, I think this episode was rather timely.

Kirakira Precure A La Review 37!

I don't know what is going on, but these summaries keep getting longer. I got it almost finished and I was already over 2200 characters. FML. Its probably because I really enjoyed this episode and was pretty engaged.

Summary for the anons that need it: Its Halloween time and KiraPati and Ciel's shop is collabing for the big event. Ciel and Ichika putting on a cooking demonstration to the amazement of a little girl when Ichika adds a little apple puppy face. This is all in front of one of Ciel's mentors who is not impressed. With the event done for the day they take a rest in Ciel's shop as lady mentor starts critiquing everything. Each point sending every member into a fit of rage. Ichika attempts to relieve things and support Ciel by showing the lady around town showing off all its positive points. Completely disappointed, the lady tells her story of meeting Ciel at Jean-Pierre's shop; ironically Jean is in the same position Ciel is in now. After the story the girls are unimpressed and the lady whips out the next point in that Ciel can be even better if she'd just return to Paris and participate in a world dessert stage. Everyone heads back and Ciel bids adieu to the lady who offers the chance to enter the contest. At KiraPati Ichika ponders if they are holding Ciel back, casting the girls into a bad mood as Ciel shows up. Ichika encourages Ciel to not let them hold her back. Nothing is resolved and Ichika beats herself up for being cringe on main and her little familiar attempts to be encouraging. In Ciel's shop Ciel ponders thing as Bibury steps in and tells her to follow her heart. Ciel points out Bibury might have a heart and Bibury goes full Tsundere and stomps off. Next morning Ciel enters KiraPati and begins making her next pumpkin dessert.

This episode was a pathetic attempt to make Ciel look like she's "grown" as a character by introducing some dumb bitch who insults everything in her way for no reason, which clearly is supposed to reflect on how Ciel was early on, except that, as i said before, she was never a bitch to anyone except for her brother Pikario, who Ciel never mentioned (not even by accident) in this episode, which makes her presumed growth and her bond with her brother even less convincing (the explaination that she can't mention him to whatsherface was quite retarded). Also Ciel mentioning that Ichika teached her how to care about others or whatever was stupid as well since at no point was that ever happened.

It's just another example of the season's "tell, don't show" writing style.

And since this episode has the same writer as the movie, i have a few things to say about it: some people will claim that the movie "fleshes out" Ciel's character, but not really, it introduces her and Rio's teacher, but Ciel's relationship with him was meh and ultimately irrelevant to her character arc, and the fact that Rio didn't meet his teacher makes it even more unnecessary (there's a shot in the flashback where Pikario was sleeping during class, which felt quite out-of-character for him considering episode 22 flashback), and it was also the weakest part of the movie compared to the (jarring) appearance of Maho Cures, and the Cures (sans Parfait) transforming into different animals, which was the most unique thing KiraKira ever did.

I honestly don't think you have to look very far. I got into precure through it's relation to Sentai/Rider, and I was way more into the latter so let's just use that as an example. Only judging the seasons that have aired since precure started, there have been a handful of outright duds (especially lately) and many seasons that are either extremely divisive or are generally considered "good, but..."
Compare this to precure where I genuinely think there's less than a handful of seasons that get those kinds of reactions. For the most part, even a "weak" precure season is still like a B-.

Or perhaps we have lower standards at what a good season is which isn't a bad thing. Let's look at what Precure is, a slice of life with some action. Overall plot moves at a slow pace so they are able to do an episode for a year compared to a quick 1 cour anime.
Lots of people are already not into slice of life so they find Precure not that interesting and feel baited by the action webms and drop a season before they even reach double digit episodes.
Meanwhile as long cast is likable and the episode is fun, it's a good season.

True, slice of life episodes can be fun if you do something unique with them, like introduce a meaningful conflict or let the characters do something different in each episode.
However, there are seasons that fail at both, such as KiraKira, which has the potential to be a fun season, except that it fails miserably because none of its characters get any development or are treated well, while the SoL episodes are repetitive and boring, and each conflict resolves in a vague way.

Yes, because Ageha was there to help, which is the whole point.
