Setup for this is a guy gets shanghaied by an unseen god who forces him to go through 100 different Isekai worlds with the following conditions
>Has to spend at least 6 months there
>Needs to become a trusted party member to their world's hero
>Needs to be removed from the party once the first two conditions are met
Once he leaves a world he gets a new permanent skill, though any alterations to his physical body get reset every time
The story starts with him clearing world 100 and getting the chance to go home but part of the return method requires he revisit one world so he goes back to world 1. He finds out that his party members all died a few months after he left except the elf who tells him what happened. The skill he got from world 100 lets him restart his trials from world 1 but keep all his memories and skills. So he does and that's the setup.

He's not lost like in Sliders. He knows exactly how to get home. But it is a series that relies on going to multiple isekai worlds

The biggest problem with undead armies is that necromancers are overdone and often done in boring ways. They ignore the necromancy magic side of things and act as a knock off summoner that can only use undead. Where's the Frankenstein angle where you stitch together different corpses and then reanimate them into undead abominations? Anything that isn't necromancy will be far more interesting.
With summoning you have a wide range of options that let you party build and brings up more interesting angles to work with. This let's you bring in a lot more variety than a necromancer and undead army could ever bring.

To me I dont think anything like realism or real life writing matters when it comes to male mcs. The problem with male mcs is that they are already priming me to expect a certain kind of bland pointlessness, a cracker for tasting the fish or cheese on top of that is supposed to never get in the way of it.

To me that stuff is not appealing. Characters who are male MCs need to have a personality and drive in the narrative. not be reacting blandly to every nice haremb8 they come across. In a sense they need to have a little bit more heroine DNA in them. and the heroines too should have a little more shuujinko dna as well.

But ultimately? doing that sort of thing runs the risk of alienating the naroufags so I understand why its not done and why I prefer to look for female MCs. Male protags who have that stuff going on? they are wrong about things. they cause huge problems for themselves, and not in the oh no I tripped and fell into a pile of bitches and XP and gold type problems.

For an easy example, lets look at a character I DONT really like but happens to be a FEMC only because of GB. I can use this to leaverage what I am talking about. for the sake of arguement I will assume you need the context. Character can turn back time, Character kills side heroines evil pedo dad she didn't know about, Side heroine swears revenge. Suddenly the character starts piecing together MC can turn back time outside of MCs pov so she cant do anything.

Speaking of personality and motivation and characters named Sylvia, I enjoyed Academy Heroine's Right Diagonal Back Seat recently but one gripe I did have was the abrupt switch in Scarlet's motivation pretty early on.
Her motivation for wanting to be Sylvia's friend at the start was that she was absolutely terrified of death and thought that sticking close to the main heroine would be the safest place to be. The reveal of the unreliable narration and Scarlet's root trauma and PTSD was great and that conflict between her selfish motivations and how she presented herself as the genuine friend with no ulterior motive that Sylvia was longing for was great set up for drama later on that eventually paid off.

But very shortly after that and for the entire rest of the story Scarlet becomes a self-sacrificing martyr who feels that she doesn't belong in this world, burns her own arm to ashes to protect others, barely cares that she only has 3 years left to live because she is more concerned that the people of the story she loves so much need to be saved, is terrified of losing control and hurting the people she loves, right up until the end she is all too willing to burn her own life out to save the others. That's fine too and also makes for enjoyable drama, but it's completely at odds with her initial characterization. If anything it's characterization that makes sense for the original Subject 10 (who is still buried in her subconscious), but not for isekaied Scarlet.

Both start off with a limited resource, Akira immideately squanders it with little thought while Yuki uses his resources frugely while spending the time to figure out how things work.
Both run into an incredible threat, Akira sacrifices almost every card he has to play, as well as manipulate all involved to keep himself alive.
Yuki negotiates based on observation.
I could draw other observations based on these such as Yuki putting himself in great danger for the sake of his dungeon residence (like fighting a dragon that is way more powerful then himself) or him choicing to deal with matters himself rather than involve the top tier powerhouse that is Fefi but Gekizumi Dungeon Desu ga "Skill: Hanshoku" de Gyakuten Shitai to Omoimasu isn't as far along as Maou ni Natta node, Dungeon Tsukutte Jingai Musume to Honobono Suru.
