>>280761276There's a little thing your missing in that non-AI works hold the potential for creativity and a genesis of new forms and styles. What's going to happen is that the industry is going to divide between low budget AI stuff and high budget "hand drawn" works, allowing for a renewed concentration of skilled artists on important projects while the LN/manga/gacha advertisement adaptions will be churned out by AI. It's never going to do 100% of the work but it will be leveraged for a lot of tertiary work like backgrounds, effects, tricky compositions, etc.
Stupid people can seethe about this all they like but AI opens up the door to implement all kinds of animation techniques that in the past would've taken an immense about of manhours and 200+ strong animation studios. Even rough sketches are useful for training and tuning.
I understand many people prefer hand-drawn art to AI generation, and that's totally fine... but animation should be a different subject altogether. What's your point
>>280760810>>280761497Lole, this thread isn't even on-topic anymore; it wasn't the moment someone inquired about whether it's AI--no shit dumbass.
I'm not an anti-AI faggot, but I'm also not a fan of all the shit images people put out, most of which are grotesque and just straight-up weird--who would've thought "idea guys" have shitty ideas that should've never seen the light of day. AI images should be banned from /a/ before it ends up like /g/, where there's like three or so AI related generals at any given moment. It's an anime board, there's plenty of anime related images, screenshots and maymays to post. Any happening which just so happens to involve AI and its affect on the industry is fine--just don't let it devolve into (complete) undistilled retardation.
If jannies can't be assed to ban AI images on sight--similar to how they don't bother banning queerjaks even after the hack--then at the very least make sure no AI related general ever sprouts up. Abort it at the moment of conception.
With regards to the Huke's art style, I don't an exact one-to-one adaptation would work. However, I think White Fox should've stylized it closer to his art style--something similar to what The Count of Monte Cristo or Mononoke looks like--to closer fit the water color-like art style of the VN, or passed it onto another studio. I can see why they just did a straight-forward adaptation however, for the sake of being pragmatic. It's not an anime original; it only serves as an advert for the source material being adapted.
For the sake of consistency across the other entries in the series, a generic anime art style would be best. I don't mean generic in a negative way, just that all anime have a certain "structure and form" to it--for lack of a better explanation.

Even just using that framework of "debate" tells me you're a tourist from /v/ lol
>>280758634Of course it's different. A computer isn't a person. It's incapable of looking and learning on its own. It has to be fed data by a third party.
It's completely reasonable for an artist to assert "You need my permission to use my art in order to train an AI model". You can easily craft a law to uphold such an assertion, and enforce it with fines and lawsuits.
It's not at all the same thing as saying "Nobody is allowed to learn from my art", which is a nonsense statement that's impossible to enforce.
How long before someone uses AI to generate... you know... "that?"
People who live for the day that they could animate an entire series with some magic AI tool should at least try understand how AI actually works first.
At most, AI will be used (already is) to generate in-between frames.
In practice, for an AI model to produce an entire show that has a consistent look and animation, it would need to be fine-tuned and/or edited in post-production so much that it wouldn't be possible to use the same tool for the next project (unless the next project is just a reskin of course).
To optimize the workflow of such a shitfest so it doesn't cost more money than human animation would requre yet another tool on top of it. But the further a human is from overseeing the process, the worse the quality will be. Not mentioing how AI tuning another AI is basically technological singularity. Which is science fiction grounds. Math is powerful, but it's not THAT powerful... yet...
The point is (You) won't be able generate an anime show with just a bunch of "prompts" any time soon.
And corpos aren't going to either unless it's more profitable. For it to be more profitable any time in the future, the audience has be drooling retards that think that results such as in this thread look fine.
actually, copyright infringement is going to be the limiting factor before any of the tech is able to produce anything worthwhile. companies building their models using "their own projects" would be nowhere near enough data lmao. even if the corpo owns 100 studios
>>280765015They already did
>>280764754Yes. Producers will even seek out artists for roles like second key animation if the demand is severe enough. They even hire non JP artists.
In creative work, generally speaking, your portfolio (the strength of your work) is everything, degree and schooling helps for networking
But more broadly speaking, artists entering the industry without going to school is not at all uncommon. Some of the luminaries of the anime industry entered after graduating high school and either learned on the job, from senior animators and through self-study. Hiroyuki Okiura, Masami Obari, Satoru Utsunomiya all come to mind. This picture too.
There are merits and demerits when it comes to pursuing an art education, especially in the 21st century.
>>280764754>>280765136the art industry (of roughly the last two decades) does not care about degrees. what matters is your portfolio and nothing else.

It's one thing to preach the value of human-created art, but animation is different. It's an extremely time-consuming, repetitive and costly process, and AI is a fantastic tool for mitigating that. Seeing laughable idiots like yourself preaching the sanctity of human-made animation will never not be funny because it's always been a job people hate doing, precisely because there are severe constraints on creativity.

I just now realized that this thread wasn't actually a Steins;Gate related thread discussing what the anime would've looked like with Huke's VN art style, but instead an AI discussion thread; the topic was just used as a segue to discuss AI (and anime I guess)--whether it was shoehorned in is up your personal discretion. I suppose it does follow the criteria I listed in my post for it to be on-topic.
I still think it'd be best to have this discussion on /g/ instead--if you can tolerate the retarded-ass one-response "tranime" remarks from tourists. I suppose a general discussion of the technology would be best, but in that case that's what the generals are for. Like I said, unless there's a major happening related to the anime industry and AI, there's no need to discuss every incremental progress of AI. It's certainly cool and will definitely be implemented into studios workflows--whether the artist or consumer likes it or not--but that's years from now; it's not blatantly obvious at the moment.

Quick question for the die-hard AIfags itt that think discussion of AI on /a/ is on-topic: What's one manga or VN series in particular that you'd adapt into an anime with your new... "tools". You just have to provide one example, just one.
>>280768749OP has been trying for days to make a stealth general here, he isn't going to take your advice because the purpose behind these threads is insincere. If he wasn't an attention-whore he'd just be on /g/ or the multiple other containment generals for posting AI
>>280769412You sound upset, schizo.
>>280767404>question goes unanswered by /A/IslopgenTelling.
To this day I think current heavy focus on generative(diffusion) ai is a mistake. Outside of upscaling/inpainting it skips too much procedures to create actual work. Modern anime style is quite diverse ai still make lots of flaws making still images that need manual editing to be passable. TV anime are very different from real life movement I don't see ai can imitate them without contaminated by other data. At this state they are merely two steps beyond uncanny valley and at best, replace live2d style, animation created from meshed still image which are kind of slop to begain with.
Not that I am aganist AI doing animation, but it should be constrained at controlling some kind of rig instead. Something computer understand and familar with. As one of first usage of neural network there are so few instance of them. With an actual rig ai won't hallucinate crap and deform, less likely to move erratically and clip itself, can intergate into workflow instead of replacing it, sloppily. And it actually fit the classical definition of ai, something only ai can do. Maybe with current trend of ani chan things can actually go for right direction.
>>280769130Be careful not to eroticize your non-masturbation or you'll just end up being horny all the time and eventually start having "accidents".
Anyway, I hope AI collapses the global economy and millions of worthless idiots lose their jobs and OD on fentanyl.

It's always funny how quickly people change their mind about AI the moment they can jerk off to it or find out it can actually do more than generic ghibli images.
Damn, this shit is still far from good, but it's leagues better than it was just six months ago. Hopefully big corpos don't fuck it up somehow.
>>280769412Generals are de facto banned though. Why are weekly drawthreads--this one's more permissible in my opinion--and pseudo generals permitted, while /djt/ was exiled to /jp/? If it were a consistent, steadfast rule drawfag threads would be held on /ic/, and DBZ threads would be exiled to /int/.
AI threads should be exclusively contained within /g/ in my opinion--aside from AI related happenings involving the industry like I've previously stated. Otherwise, like with /g/, you run the risk of entertaining threads that are only tangentially related to the board's topic, like with "technologically speaking, why is [insert vaguely tech related question]" threads.
I don't think an /ai/ board is necessary--that's what the generals on /g/ are for--I just think it's a matter of self restraint and actually making well thought out responses, and proper moderation. I was curious and looked through one of the generals on /g/, and it was in part actual discussion, and in some part schizo faggotry. I wouldn't want that to spread upon other boards.

Other than wider learning-data accessibility, there's nothing special about modern AI models that couldn't be implemented years ago if "the hype" were to happen back then. All of it is just math.
This tech is "evolving" now purely due to the fact that the current market forces it to.
The "ceiling" will be met when the amount of resources required to train and use an -excellent- model becomes too inadequate in one way or another. "AI tools" are going to be complemented by or simply consist of a number of external tools that mitigate the ridiculous costs of it. Eventually, it'll just circle back into "hmm, I really should've just done it myself from the get-go".
...that is if you want to produce something that isn't "slop".
AI is at its most useful when it's just a tool that does some small specific shit for a human.
When you outsource the whole production process to an AI, the scale of its dice-rolling becomes to costly to control.
>>280771941I have an advanced degree in statistics. AI is not the same old shit, if you told people 10 years ago that you would have machine learning models that can consistently ace the SAT, nobody would've believed you. Now it's considered very standard.
You're right that there's a limit to the tasks that AI can do and that it will likely hit some ceiling sooner or later, but you're being too dismissive.
>>280772064>but you're being too dismissive.I'm not dismissive of AI as a whole. It's just that generative AI in it's current state is marketing first. Its actual applications are localized and don't get publicized too much because they are not as exciting.
Image generation does probably have some more way to go, but LLMs, it feels like, have already halted improving and they are still as retarded as ever. Which is to be expected, of course. There's only so much information you can extract from a single token, so it needs excessive context to participate in a conversation.
