But Kiss-Shot has her maximum stage where she looks more monstrous and has somehow grown even more (not sure if this image is the best example though, as her face looks really different in the anime). She grows in power by drinking blood. Naturally, Monogatari vampires are just cannibals and not blood drinkers, but they still work in the same way and take on smaller forms when hungry. Kiss-Shot is also shown hibernating in some giant wing cocoon after eating. When Araragi becomes a full vampire, one of the things that causes him despair is realizing he has no appetite for food. They also both cry blood as a gag. All monsters in Monogatari are magical manifestations of human thought. The vampires also drink blood as their form of sex (why it is so lewd that Araragi puts Shinobu in a position where she must drink every night to live) they also make new vampires through drinking instead of eating. I think it might also be implied that fully powered Kiss-Shot is more resistant to the sun (Shinobu can survive because she is part human due to what Araragi did to her). As for what Araragi did, he turned Kiss-Shot into the more docile Shinobu by drinking a lot of her blood and stealing her power. A main theme in Kizu is that Kiss-Shot was lonely too. Just like Araragi, both wanted to die, but found peace in each other.
