I feel that's the underlying theme of part 2, it's more misanthropic and saying that humanity sucks. In part 1 there's hope and people are shown as the victim to devils, with people banding together and willing to use their own blood to revive chainsaw man, showing their faith in him as a hero. Humanity in part 2 just seems horrible, apathetic, selfish, and stupid. Every human is looking out for themselves and the kind ones get shat upon. I'm not sure whether it's meta-commentary or whatever, but it isn't just Denji that changed in part 2. Humanity did too.

If you get really reductory about it, the only devil that would exist is the Death devil. Fujimoto doesn't seem to bother too much with these classifications given that there is a Sword AND a Katana hybrid.
I personally feel like a distinction between a bomb and a nuclear weapon is clear enough in the collective's minds to generate separate devils, the US has been dropping bombs with extremely high yields in the middle east for a while but it never alarms the general populace because they aren't "nuclear".

You have it backwards, when nuclear weapons were first used, most people weren't immediately aware of their implications. Its only during the cold War where both sides of a global conflict obtained and stockpiled nukes, did people fear nuclear annihilation. Right now only Americans have them.

I can think of several instances that prove you wrong. Just to name 2 off the top of my head: Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

As for radiation: 3 mile Island, Fukushima, and of course Chernobyl. Also: chemotherapy and radiation treatment for cancer.
