The inclusion of anime-only content such as Cooler, Hell and Dragon Fist make GT inapplicable for discussions concerning Dragon Ball's manga.

This "attack" from Buu DID NOT HURT TRUNKS. The momentum from a larger physical body acting upon a stronger one still took effect due to Newton's First Law of Motion, as power levels do not negate the laws of physics in physical contests. I really wish people would stop talking about Dragon Ball Z as some standalone thing from the first Dragon Ball anime, it's even worse when they act like it applies to the manga as well. It makes sense to talk about GT as something distinct because it lacks basis in the manga and has been ignored by other projects, while Super and Daima are prequels. With Z being labelled as a new show it was literally just a marketing decision based on there being a timeskip, which wasn't the first or last. Hell, we know this was a last minute decision in the first place because the storyboards clearly label what would be known as DBZ episode 1 as DB episode 154, the decision to break the show in two could have happened earlier at the start of the Piccolo Jr arc or later at the start of the Namek arc, it was practically arbitrary.

When they eventually produce a new adaptation, there is no guarantee they would break it up the same way again. Considering a new adaptation could be as short as ~85 episodes, they may not even bother to ever relabel the show.

If they decide to officially label the new adaptation as multiple shows, it could look like this:

A new adaptation is not going to be 200-250 episodes long, the manga isn't actually long enough to justify it. The only reason Kai is as long as it is is precisely because it's made from old footage where not only the filler can't e cut but many scenes are stretched. If you look at adaptations of manga made after they were concluded, they typically end up with a conversion rate of about 2-3 episodes per volume.

Rounded up, that means a new adaptation would most likely be between 85 and 130 episodes long. In the manga, up until the end of the Piccolo Jr arc, it's about 40% of the whole thing. So in a new adaptation, from Pilaf to the end of Piccolo Jr it would be between 35 to 55 episodes and from Vegeta to Buu it would be 55 to 80 episodes. The idea that it would be more 150 episodes is unlikely and more than 200 or up to 250 is absolutely absurd.

The only way a new adaptation would be longer would be if they combined the original with all the spin-off manga like Super and Jaco and filled in the obvious gaps like Freeza's resurrection and Broly. Even then, the material covered in the Super manga alone can't be longer than 75 episodes, Jaco 5 episodes and the movie remakes 10 in total, making possible total for the spin-offs 90 episodes. Which added to the maximum of the adaptation of the original 210, but it would still likely trend toward the lower number, which would be closer to 65 for the spin-off and 150 for the entire thing.

The point isn't so that they would be able to divide the adaptation into several parts as much as it is that the division in the existing adaptation is arbitrary and shouldn't be treated as inherent to the story.

The justification for dividing it back in the day, aside from marketing, was that there was a time skip between the Piccolo Jr and Saiyan arcs. But the were several time skips before and after, so treating that one as special simply because of an old marketing decision really needs to stop.
