I fucking hated 20th century boys but absolutely loved Billy Bat despite both works having the exact same style of bullshit writing. Why is this?

For me it's the reverse, Urasawa was way more unhinged in Billy Bat, it's as if whoever was the editor decided it's not worth trying to tardwrangle him anymore. But ultimately I think I liked 20th Century Boys better because the antagonist was better written. I didn't care that much about Timmy Sanada, discount Walt Disney, Kurusu etc and felt like Urasawa wasted too much time on trying to make them all fit on the same manga.
