I think a remake that's more in line and tone with the manga is inevitable but would you look forward to one? Any changes or even filler you'd hope that would stay or get improved on from the old Toei anime?

A Dragon Ball remake would be a massive waste of time and a sign that Toei is in INCREDIBLY dire straits.
To go over a few reasons why-
>Unnecessary
Like with Kinnikuman, everyone in Japan still just watches the original show. It still gets reruns, it's on their streaming services and at rental stores, Toei gets all the capital from Dragon Ball's existence without having to make it "exist" again.
>Way too much overhead
They would need to replace every single voice actor within the series to adapt a 42 volume manga. Even ignoring actors who already died and got replaced, they would still need to replace Kuririn, whose VA is tied up with One Piece, they would need to replace Goku, whose VA is basically on her death bed, they would need to replace Yamucha's VA for obvious reasons, and so on and so on.

A remake is pointless because of the first factor, that Dragon Ball itself is already iconic for the original anime. Any remake would inevitably be viewed as derivative, and then forgotten.
The only argument for a remake would be merchandising, but again, merch already is a massive seller without anything new even coming out, and that includes merch for things from even the first few chapters, released over forty years ago.

The One Piece remake is something being made for an actively produced franchise that gets a lot from its view as a 'saga', like how Game of Thrones or Harry Potter were huge for their overarching storylines.
Through that, the One Piece remake offers a reason for its existence- that people will want a 'definitive' rendition of the narrative in anime form. That isn't something people are begging for with Dragon Ball, as Dragon Ball is a work closer to Detective Conan than it is to One Piece.

Going back to DBZ I was surprised and disappointed by how many fights were chock full of scenes of people just standing around, staring at each other. I guess as a kid you only focus on the exciting bits. But man a lot of fights are way slower than I remember.

Just finished Majin Vegeta vs Buu in my DBZ re-watch (the one I did 2 years ago wasn't it, it was Kai version and my parents deserve the original to honor Toriyama).


Kai did this scene better, I already knew that much without checking the original. But damn they really screwed it up, they play some random battle music in Z while Vegeta says his last words and charges up the final explosion IT WAS THE PERFECT TIME TO PLAY THE GENKIDAMA THEME, this is some Mandela Effect, when the scene started getting all bright and glittery, I thought for sure we'd get that emotional music but no.
I felt nearly nothing, the farewell to Trunks and Piccolo was well done but the final explosion itself should have gotten the sad OST treatment, in a way it's Vegeta's genkidama (putting all of his energy into one big explosion).


But damn Toriyama handled this like ass. Is it a joke? MAJIN BUU REVIVES IN THE VERY NEXT EPISODE. At least let us pretend Vegeta accomplished something, or have Buu down for an entire day regenerating. This is in bad taste, just look at those episode titles.

It's because when the series started, Goku was a little kid. Studios use more often than not women voices for young boys because they can sound young without having to fear of them changing their voices due to puberty like real boys. However in Japan if a character has a set voice actor, they will remain that voice actor for as long as possible, which is why DragonBall and OnePiece cast still do their voices even well into retirement ages.
And thus, since no one expected Goku to become older in the original series, they had to stick with the women they originally cas

The ki is definitely used up though, you'll get most of your ki back but it takes a lot of energy to divide yourself
