It’s the most generic boring bullshit ever, no way people think this shit is peak it’s not even decent it’s actively bad, showing flashbacks does not equate character development. People keep harping out about the world building, are we watching the same show? It’s the same as every other fantasy anime. And the main characters just have one quirk and act like they don’t know each other after more than a year. 2/10 if I’m being generous.

Despite these two things, Frieren's human friends somehow have no fucking clue that the billion-year-old elf perceives the passage of time differently, and that from her perspective they're only together for a brief moment.
Goblin Slayer is another generic fantasy setting with a generic thousand-year-old elf party member, yet its characters understand this difference in lifespan like actual people with functioning brains. Goblin Slayer is a mediocre LN, but it looks like an intellectual literary masterpiece when put next to Frieren, that's how bad this reddit slop is. 2/10 is indeed too generous, it's closer to 0/10.

You make fun of this kind of writing but what I learned is that people are retarded and can still miss simple concepts like this no matter how many times the author repeats it. Kagurabachi is written the same way but you still get weirdos constantly asking about something the author's mentioned over and over.

When I was watching Frieren, I kept having this wriggling throught in the back of my mind. Something that really bothered me about it. I think it was boredom. Watching a show where everyone acts so dour and serious and barely emotes is fucking tiresome. The magic exam was the worst of it.
