The manga is in a pretty shitty place atm and the show doesn't accurately reflect that. The arcs currently covered in the show (and will probably covered for at least another season) are some of the most enjoyable the series was. After it hit a certain arc the author basically shook up the entire cast, has built the party to a fairly unsustainable amount of characters, and introduced some kind of mystery villain that he's only giving small bits of lore about. The fights have become fairly stale and for the last few months Jiji has become like 2nd most important character in the story.

Basically, everyone who isn't already caught up on the manga is loving it, everyone else agrees the episodes are fun but it isn't very fun to talk about until new chapters drop. Plus the generals keep bringing out schizo behavior and some of them are genuinely unreadable levels of NTR discussion

Give him over to CSG for like an arc, have him channel all his power into mindlessly seeking revenge for real, revisit the scene where he was about to kill Momo for a second but this time make it the entire crew. Force them to team up to knock Jiji back to his senses but in reality use it as a moment to show Jiji having a real conversation with the kid and do some kind of soul searching "you have to forgive the world because killing innocent people only perpetuates the pain you felt" etc... Deliver on the idea that Jiji is a spiritual genius by having him mature alongside Evil Eye and turn on CSG. It's character fatigue, it's become unfocused, it's become weirdly centered on Jiji, it's crippling and separating the two protagonists solely for the opportunity to allow the other characters to shine. It's all of a package and its all been snowballing since the end of Danmara.

If you like the manga at the moment, then keep enjoying it. I'm just tired of seeing discussion and hype for the anime and remembering how fun and interesting it used to be and then coming back to the manga and remembering how Momo is still being used as a punchline, Okarun is temporarily MIA, Zuma is just kind of there and that we get to watch the most annoying character get power-ups while going "pew pew" some more

I feel like this entire manga is just medicore story and character-wise but it occasionally has some moments that hit hard like Acro Silky and Zuma's flashbacks or a really cool/funny fight like the guys that dunked everyone's heads in basketball hoops. It's just enought for me to remember to catch uo every once in a while but the whole manga feels like a style over substance fest that uses Momo and Okarun's romance as a fallback that keeps it from being labeled a train of braindead spectacle after spectacle. But that being said good art, basic character interaction, and constant fights are usually enough to keep normalfags entertained.

It's an issue because more than character bloat the problem is them not interacting enough. You get a fragmented cast with long pauses between a character appearing and reappearing that just makes thighs harder to care about

I DO NOT like serious heroes/rivals (can't still get how Bakugou has so many fans), Jiji is a breath of fresh air because he's a friendly rascal, EE is a lot more enjoyable when he acts like a brat as well, so I hope that edginess doesn't come back in this hybrid or, if it does, it is just a first impression.

Looking at his design, it looks like he's wearing a sort of mask like a Super Sentai, sams for the darker skin on his pecs. Mannerism is Jiji's too, so he's definitely going to be more arrogant but in a fun way, teasing the opponents like EE did and cracking jokes and cute poses like Jiji.

I just finished episode 9. I'm loving this show so far. I don't like this pink haired girl. She has bad chemistry with the characters and her personality is too childish for the show.

It's giving me deja vu of Demon Slayer where the first season had a serious tone, and all the characters had good chemistry, then they introduced an annoying comic-relief side character (Zenitsu) which ruined the tone of the series (which ultimately led to me dropping it).

Do they ever address the fact that she's introduced as someone being a cunt towards Okarun? Her becoming attracted to him doesn't really address the fact that she was a douchebag bullying a friendless nerd. Does she get comeuppance or character development.

The most relevant thing she's done was to have beaten another new character at a childhood competition, which sent the new character into a spiral of self-loathing. And the reveal was that Aira only pushed herself hard to win that out of pure competitiveness and she ended up not caring about what they were competing over in the long run, so this other character thinking of Aira as a prodigy and herself as shit was dark comedy. I thought it was funny but it does kind of suck that after like a hundred chapters, besides being a reliable middle-tier combatant, that's all Aira's done.

you mean like mindwashing him? Because Jiji hates conflict and is a sort of pacifist himself (unless he has to protect others) so why would he do something like this? If it is brainwashing, I'd say it'd be kinda cheap since it would be like doing the EE arc all over again but on a grander scale...I do not dislike the idea too much tho, but it'd be redundant

this I like very much. I always thought his relationship with EE is far too underdeveloped. EE is like his little brother, that we haven't see them interacting in some way until last chapter, even as a gag, is absurd. I think him developing his relationship with EE should be his next personal arc, seeing how Jiji's pure heart is cleansing his soul along the others etc.

Ironically I think the rejection could be a good point to make him go berserk for a reduced time, with Okarun specifically. I want Tatsu to use it as a pretest to test their friendship and do something more with both, excluding Momo. Jiji and Okarun barely interact since the start of the globalists, and they're supposed to be best friends according to the recently released book

The arcs first, third, and fourth acts are some of the best, but just look how long the arc took to get back on track as soon as Momo got sucked into Jumanji. Starts off great with trying to find the second golden ball at the police box, the turbo granny "heist" and delinquent school are so fun. Then chapter 135 to 147 (more than 3 months) is just Jumanji fighting stupid monsters of the week, a non-existent relationship between Momo and Zuma, and Momo can't even use her powers, its the weakest part of the entire manga.
Then Okarun and the delinquents come in for the awesome first fight against FTC, Cop/Rokuro/Powerless Okarun vs Enraged Zuma is 10/10, Zuma's flashback, confession, and second fight against FTC are all amazing.
I got burned out during the chef frogs and decided to take a break and came back when I saw they were back at school and shrunk. By some miracle I wasn't spoiled that Okarun confessed and got to experience it like everyone else first reading it.

The board game arc was what did it for me. I started speed reading it around that time, and almost completely lost interest.
I don't even keep up with the series that much anymore. After several months I'll go pick up where I left off because I am still somewhat interested in where the series is going, but it just seems like things are dragging on more than they need to. Certain plot points are being drawn out, they keep introducing new characters that I don't really care about (like umbrella guy for example) and like you said, the threads are fully of schizos, ritual posters, avatarfags, and NTRfags, so they are basically un-lurkable. Seems to happen whenever a series gets an anime adaptation.

I think the Danmara arc will be much better animated, even the dull parts anons talked about. This IF SS keeps adapting it of course *fingers crossed*

action sequences like Okarun vs EE are nice on manga as well, but the wackier ones like the cook and the frogs are best animated, so I can understand anons hated it, expecially when they were all there was for weeks. With everything colored, the music, the SFX, it'll become tolerable

The mangaka simply doesn’t have the writing talent to make this concept work. Versus by ONE does the mashup of a bunch of different sci-fi and fantasy tropes in a shounen battle manga SO much better it’s like fucking night and day. Of course, Versus is darker but that’s because Dandadan is so juvenile. In DDD there’s several factions but which all strangely seem to amalgamate into monster-of-the-week enemies. In VErsus the different factions do cross-pollinate to a degree but they are not equal in terms of destructive power but are all very unique. Also, compare the Madarans to the Serpo, it’s fucking embarrassing.

The fight itself has been great, I like that this is a human vs human fight between a villain and protagonist. I can’t explain why but it makes the fight feel more personal than the typical human protagonist vs alien/crytptids monster that we usually get. Maybe because Jiji/Evil Eye and Enera are talking trash to each other a lot during the fight, that usually doesn’t happen in DDD fights plus the fight has been mainly hand-to-hand combat.

I think you're missing the subtle difference (it's barely subtle) between Okarun and the way Momo describes previous guys she's tried to date. Okarun isn't taking her up on all the shallow skinship with assumption that it's a green light for fucking her. Which is exactly why she's slowly fully falling for him. Because even though he's trying to keep up with her physical affection he's also trying to show her that he's respectful of normal boundaries and that he's willing to wait til they're both properly ready for a physical relationship. Momo's pretty clearly too naive about relationships to understand that she's not actually ready to fuck or build up to fucking, otherwise she would just do it herself. She's just a touchy-feely person and trying to sort of push Ken out of her shell with these little flirty games. That's true. I think that it's a very two steps forward, one step back. It's why so much of the cast feels less dynamic than Okarun- he's had so much character development since the start of the series. Sometimes he fully understands that he has to let Momo tease him and get close in her own way, sometimes he defaults to his old distrustful programming which put him on alert for bullying. I think all the current stuff where Okarun faced Hase was Tatsu quietly deciding that Ken is finally ready to be the confident alpha that Momo is expecting. Which is why he's also disappeared from the story largely. It’s actually easy for him to keep coming up with excuses, if you pay attention Momo has been fixated on only getting a confession from Okarun, not a relationship. Momo is the kind of girl that’s wants a proposal so she can have a fairytale wedding but then get divorced a month later. That was Reikos’ point when she called Momo out for not actually being serious about Okarun.

Plus Jiji and Aira aren’t going to be rejected anytime soon, Aira is currently separated from Okarun at the hospital and Jiji is separated from Momo and will most likely not be at the shrine for the Demon Hammer ritual because he has to get Seiko to a hospital after he defeats Red Baron.

The official fanbook states that Momo has accepted his feelings, but Okarun needs to be patient due to the curse.
Once Momo returns to her normal size, we'll see the other half of the confession. If I had to guess, it will likely involve Momo confessing physically - perhaps by kissing Okarun. However, Momo's struggle to express herself verbally is a flaw she needs to work on, and it's a big part of her character development. So maybe the "I love you" will come after the kiss.
