Just saw the first Infinity Castle movie, the theater was jam-packed with people and not just with weebs but normal folk with friends and family.

Decent movie I guess, though the narrative structure felt better-suited for a TV anime format as it was going through several encounters with their own mini narratives. Only later when the movie focuses on Akaza then does it feel more like a long-form story. Giyuu vs Akaza was the best fight in the movie, very reminiscent of the chaotic fight between Gyutaro and Tengen. Quite likely storyboarded by Takahiro Miura while Masayuki Kunihiro did the animated layouts. For the sakuga nerds, good luck spotting Shinya Ohira's work, his idiosyncratic style got heavily corrected. He probably did a brief part in Zenitsu's fight and/or a part of Akaza's super finisher thing while Tanjiro achieves enlightenment.

I have been reading Ichi during the week after pulling it off for ages becase the fanbase is obnoxious, and so far, it has been pretty decent. I'm surprised by how much I'm liking the MC, because I genuinely can't remember the last time I read a series from Jump where the protagonist wasn't the weakest aspect of the work. He's smart in a very specific area, incredibly naive about practically everything else, and has a no-nonsense attitude that I appreciate. I like the setting, love the characters and their dynamics, and the artwork and designs are full of personality, and the story, while nothing special, is entertaining and engaging enough. I love Dragon Ball but I have to be completely honest... This series is definitely pretty crude and cringe-worthy in a lot of places when it comes to its humor. I still love the adventure aspect, the fantastic artwork, and the focus on martial arts, but Toriyama's humor is unflinchingly juvenile.

In particular, I find the characters of Oolong and Muten Roshi to be completely unfunny since they embody the popular anime archetype, "the silly pervert". These characters are really common in a lot of anime, Jiraiya from Naruto, Sanji from One Piece, Mineta from My Hero Academia and the list goes on. Especially earlier ones, and basically their entire gag is built around harassing the female characters. It moves into rather creepy territory, such as with Oolong and Master Roshi, who both have had scenes where they try and take advantage of a knocked-out woman and feel her up. They never succeed, mind you, and are always comically punished for their attempts, but overall it's laughed off by all the characters as ultimately a completely normal behavior. It's like there's a conscious effort to say "hey, this ain't cool!", but at the same time there's this sense that male characters are only being punished because they failed, not for the action itself.

Even worse, out of all the characters in Dragon Ball, it seems Bulma is the one the show seems to imply is the issue when it comes to sexual dysfunction more often than not, and treats the sexual elements of her character far more negatively than those of the male characters. It seems she's more often than not called out by the others for being perverted, for her base desires being something that she should be ashamed of and makes her impure, and that she exists to be oogled at, but isn't allowed to do the same. It's like there's this really negative energy aimed towards her in Dragon Ball, which persists through Z as well with her being portrayed more often than not as shrill, selfish, and at odd with the male cast.

In a way, Naruto is so influential that they're NOT repeating the same mistakes except for making girls useless. That's forever eternal

In Spade she got a long ass fight when she avenged her mom, admitted she loved Asta, saved her friend Lolopechka and reconnected with her brother at the end, she did a lot despite not being in the final fight, which is more of what she did in previous arcs.
