According to Rumiko she only had two designs planned out for InuKag kids, one boy and one girl who would end up becoming Moroha. The boy was initially supposed to be 3rd member of the Yashahime trio but Sumisawa told her to use the daughter instead because he wanted it to be an all-girl group, so Rumiko did but she was then forced to scrap the son character altogether because it would conflict with Sumisawa’s timeline plans of having Moroha be the same age as Sesshomaru’s twins + sealing InuKag away, and likely cause he didn’t want Moroha’s bond with her brother to overshadow her bond with her cousins.

Now that both the Yashahime anime and manga are finally finished this panel is probably in reference to that unused son design Rumiko was forced to scrap, hopefully she’ll finally re-release his design to the public, give him a name, and make him Moroha’s official little brother.

TL;DR: They canonically end up having two kids, one girl (Moroha) and one boy, Rumiko didn’t make any other designs for any future kids of either gender.

The most annoying and disgusting thing is it could have. All they had to do was have the loli little sister get stolen into the past. Then the characters would have to go to the past to rescue her. Now they have personal investment and a strong character motivation to take risks. It just wasn't good for reasons entirely seperate from rumiko vs the cast. I dont know who was really responsible for writing this but nobody in the process ever bothered to cook the core drama of the show
