From Kakashi's point of view Obito died due to his and Rin's weakness, dying to save them both. Rin later died at this hand by her own choice.
There are zero parallels here from Kakashi's pov, the parallels are from the reader's pov if they identify Obito as the Naruto and Kakashi as the Sasuke of their group from a narrative structure, but what else is going on for him to think that what's happening is similar to his own life?

It was also left vague, but IIRC, Kakashi didn't want to get invovlved with Naruto because he was a jinchuuriki and seemingly, a jinchuuriki killed all his loved ones, so there's a bit of resentment from Kakashi to Naruto for being Kyuubi's vessel and also because he reminds him of Obito (the one who betrayed Kakashi).
After a thorough reread, Naruto was handicapped from every side as an MC, was handed a power that was more of a curse, his most iconic teacher was the worst and most emotionally inmature of the 3 sannin and the only one who died as a failure, even at the last minute.
Shit only started to get better for him after Killer Bee was introduced and the jounin concluded what Naruto needed wasn't more physical training, but spiritual and introspective mental training instead.

I know that people generally try to "fix" characters by making them as hyper-optimal as possible, but honestly, I think they dropped the easy win for sensible reasons:

>They're now on gradually thinner ice because they're not making it in time, courtesy of Genma and Raido, even having to take a break post-battle
>Can't really afford to cut loose when CS2 is draining, they need all the time they can get to deliver the Sharingan, and they don't know the full capabilities of their enemies
>Jirobo got them with the DOME, there was basically no real reason to try to overkill when they've got to get their asses moving
>Ditto for Kido and his webs, there was literally only one guy on the team that could deal with those
Really the biggest fuckup was Tayuya and Sakon getting outsmarted by Shikamaru and Kiba, things really fell apart from there
