If anyone is interested, Detective Conan is both a manga and an anime. The anime pursues the episodic style in a far more dedicated sense with MANY anime original episodes- many that are, honestly, pretty great, and how it adapts the cases elevates them a good deal with its stylish flair (in particular, the soundtrack and sound effect work is iconic).
If anyone wants to try the anime adjacent to the manga, Episode 1 of the anime adapts this first case, with a few anime original changes, most notable of them being that Mouri, Agasa, Genta, Ayumi, and Mitsuhiko are introduced in this case.
If you don't care for the anime though, at least watch the first OP/ED.

Not OP btw, just knowledgeable.

The scanlations are, for the most part, lower quality in both general translation as well as scan quality as they go on.
Viz offers an overall better experience in English even if the names are changed. To my knowledge though, name changes only go so far as what Funimation had changed (so, they basically end with Ai. )

The Yaiba manga is not fully translated. Viz is currently doing a translation of it, with an omnibus containing Volumes 3+4 releasing I believe next month, and the fan translations are roughly at the halfway point, which essentially means it only covers the material the original anime covered (which is equivalent to just double what the Wit remake will have covered by the end of the second cour).
