Daily Detective Conan case
I'll be storytiming the manga, one complete case per day. Most cases are around 3-6 chapters long.
Feel free to drop in at any time, since it's mostly episodic.

If anyone is interested, Detective Conan is both a manga and an anime. The anime pursues the episodic style in a far more dedicated sense with MANY anime original episodes- many that are, honestly, pretty great, and how it adapts the cases elevates them a good deal with its stylish flair (in particular, the soundtrack and sound effect work is iconic).
If anyone wants to try the anime adjacent to the manga, Episode 1 of the anime adapts this first case, with a few anime original changes, most notable of them being that Mouri, Agasa, Genta, Ayumi, and Mitsuhiko are introduced in this case.
If you don't care for the anime though, at least watch the first OP/ED.
>Opening: 'The Pounding of My Heart'
https://animethemes.moe/video/DetectiveConan-OP1-NCDVD480.webm
>Ending: STEP BY STEP (Video contains some clips from a later case)

Not OP btw, just knowledgeable.

The scanlations are, for the most part, lower quality in both general translation as well as scan quality as they go on.
Viz offers an overall better experience in English even if the names are changed. To my knowledge though, name changes only go so far as what Funimation had changed (so, they basically end with Ai. )
>>281532448
The Yaiba manga is not fully translated. Viz is currently doing a translation of it, with an omnibus containing Volumes 3+4 releasing I believe next month, and the fan translations are roughly at the halfway point, which essentially means it only covers the material the original anime covered (which is equivalent to just double what the Wit remake will have covered by the end of the second cour).

Probably not that weird considering she is present on pretty much every Aoyama project. She's also the voice of the titular Yaiba Kurogane in both Yaiba TV anime.
Reportedly, the actual reason they divorced was because they just never saw each other. Aoyama is a busy mangaka (despite the hiatuses, he does actually do research in those breaks and oversees spinoff works like Detective Conan Special) and Minami is a very active voice actor. As an example, just looking at her roles for 2025, Minami voiced/will be voicing
>Inadera Rantarou (of Nintama Rantarou)
>Nabiki Tendou (of Ranma 1/2)
>Conan Edogawa (of Detective Conan)
>Isamu (of One Punch Man)
>Yaiba Kurogane (of Shin Samurai-den YAIBA)
Of those works, two are longrunning works where she voices a main character (Rantarou and Conan), and for 2025 in particular, Yaiba is another main character role on her palette. It's a pretty absurd schedule for a voice actor.
Fun fact for other roles that Minami has taken up
>Hajime Hinata (main protagonist of Danganronpa 2)
>Hao Asakura (of Shaman King)
>Kitarou exactly one time (in the 2007 version, when they were seeking a replacement for Nozawa)
>Envy (of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
And of course, she is the lead vocalist of Two-Mix, the group behind the Gundam Wing main themes, as well as the fifth opening of Detective Conan.

Again, she is a very, very busy woman.

>Imagine her using Conan's voice during sex.
That's not too far off from a real thing that happened just last year.
This is about a character who won't be introduced until around the 600s/700s, but the voice actor, Furuya Tooru, seduced a fan of Detective Conan because he's the VA for Bourbon. He would do that character's voice to basically seduce her and deepen her love and convince her to do a lot, and it is an insane story.
Here's a full article on the events, along with a few interviews:
https://zeonic-republic.net/?page_id=11486
>――Did you really use the voice of Amuro to appeal to her, who is a fan?
>“Ah… It might have happened. My memory isn’t what it used to be, so if she says it happened, it likely did. I deeply regret it. It was an act that tarnished the character, and I’m truly sorry for that.”

>――Is it true that you were violent towards her at your villa?
>“It’s true. But it wasn’t with a fist; it was with an open hand. I hit her two or three times. During our fight, she started saying she was going to ‘leave’… I panicked. I lost control and lashed out.”

>――In March 2021, when she became pregnant, did you say you “wanted her to have an abortion”?
>“Yes, that’s true.”

>――Did you also ask, “Is it really mine?”
>“I may have said something to that effect. I had my doubts, but I still accompanied her to the hospital and paid for the procedure and a form of compensation.”
>――You also said, “That can’t even be called a life yet”?
>“She was about 5 weeks along at the time, and that was my thinking back then. But I said it intending to console her, as she was struggling with the situation.”
>――Were you trying to avoid taking responsibility?
>“No, I recognized it was my responsibility.”

>――Did sex play a big role in your relationship?
>“Yes. Being with her made me feel like I was still a man, that I still had it in me.”

>Honestly, following the anime seems like a bigger committment than reading the manga.
It's a massive undertaking.
I've hosted a groupwatch for over two years where we watch 3 episode/1 movie a week in release order. On our way to finishing the Vermouth arc soon.
Honestly though, even something like Conan isn't THAT big a commitment. Think of it like this:

Detective Conan is 1172 episodes currently. Lets presume by the time you 'catch up' it's 1200, so that's the goal.
If you were to watch 3 episodes a day, Conan would only take 400 days. The movies/specials/OVAs could be an additional 30-40 days stapled onto the end.
That sounds like a lot, but it's really just a bit over an hour a day, it's nothing TOO big. In fact, by the time you're done, this Daily will have only been finished up for about two or three months.

But a big reason to watch Conan is because there aren't many good detective anime out there. The other big one I'd consider good is the original Kindaichi series.

They do switch to magazine after a while.
I think the scans are pretty good, as far as scanlations go.

It's a pretty big undertaking. I've watched YYH, Rurouni Kenshin, and Ranma (twice) for the first time in the last year, two episodes a night, as well as a ton of other assorted old anime, and I've still clocked nowhere near Conan levels of commitment.

Is his condition permanent? Yeah, I get that he most probably is still the same size in the latest chapters because time has to progress extremely slowly for such a long series to go on, but would he still be the size of an elementary schooler once a few years have passed (in the story, not our world)?

He got dropped from that role, though it was a mutual thing.
It was probably the second hardest role to divorce him from as Bourbon is named for the actor. Amuro Tooru and Rei Furuya, pulling from his iconic "Amuro Ray" role (to rival Akai's VA being Char Aznable) and the leftover Tooru Furuya being the actor's name.

Anyone ever wonder why she got ship bait only to cuck her out of it anyway? I wonder how this series would go if the author decided to go with her as the main heroine in the first place.

Circumstancial evidence gets a bad rep, but it's often more reliable than other evidence like eyewitnesses. Even someones dna or fingerprints being at a crime scene are often just circumstancial.

Haibara was intended to be introduced far earlier in the narrative, and the Detective Boys actually only exist because of her, rather than her being an addendum to the group. They were to act as a 'cover' for her character to blend in, whereas Shinichi doesn't need that given his closer relationship with Ran and Kogoro, plus the overall arc of the Detective Boys 'rehabilitating' Haibara and giving her a chance to live out her childhood.

As for love rivalries, I imagine this is an endgame scenario thing. The final arc of Conan, rather than a grand showdown, will probably be something following said grand showdown- that being, should Shinichi return to being Shinichi or stay as Conan. Yaiba had a similar lowkey affair for its final arc, and there is a lot going on to suggest that the change back will be something dramatic. Namely the fact that all of these relationships within the show exist because of Conan rather than Shinichi, and that Conan leaving would be overall more devastating for the cast than Shinichi leaving, which would be primarily upsetting for Ran. Haibara's very obvious love for Shinichi plays a role in that.
