It's just bad. I was actively forcing myself to watch it and it just made me miserable. I'm just going to give the same list I give whenever I say anything's bad, because this show is so fundamentally, obviously bad that I could say anything about it is bad and be correct - the pacing is bad, the writing is bad, the plot is bad, the characters are 90% empty husks, the animation was fucking awful, the music was bad, the entire premise is stupid. There was no soul to the series. It didn't leverage anything about itself properly.

I don't know what the hell you think you're talking about with the sincerity, there are a ton of sincere anime. One of my favourite anime is the fucking Lodoss TV anime.

As much as love symphogear, the series peaks episode 1 of season 3. The rest needs to rewritten from scratch. Season 3 should have been more goofy mission shenanigans and more slice of life:

> tsubasa, maria and hibike vs top 3 ninja from ninja clan

basically quite a lot you can write and end up with a much better experience. Then the first half of season 4 is a race against Ninja clan who wants to control space eldritch god. Obviously they fail, kill said god only to find out that the Saiyans are coming. The rest of the season should be character centered, with each episode dedicated to a character's way of dealing with stress and so on. Then you have a movie that's mostly action to beautifully conclude the franchise.

Dub quality aside, these are good and it's no secret that the former inspired Symphogear(and Hibiki herself takes from Usagi) along with the whole idea of magical girl squads who fight stuff. CCS is a callback to old style magical girls, but one that doesn't rely just on nostalgia.

Just finished GX and so far I would put S1 and G on the same level, the only difference is one focusing on the main trio, and the other introducing the FIS trio. G does have a much more entertaining villain tho, not to mention doing something more interesting with Fine than her own season.
GX on the other hand, yeah the writing is all over the place. Overall enjoyable because it has its moments, can't say there was anything that would make me consider dropping it.

It's not misclassified, it's what the main content is. The ending does not do away with the fact hat everything else is just showing how everything is fucked up.
