The most important thing it has that the anime doesn't is Okabe's first-person perspective. Having the whole story told by an unreliable narrator is key to the VN and gives it a unique vibe different from the anime (this is one of, but certainly not the only reason, that the Chaos;Head anime sucked compared to its VN). Other than that, there's just more overall detail and worldbuilding in the VN that get skipped, like the gradual convergence of Okabe's mad scientist persona and the actual events of his life (no that one memeshot from the anime where Okabe is shown from the same camera angle in two parts of the story does not count).
In general, the anime pacing feels really really rushed if you read it right after the VN. Like seriously it feels like they played all dialog at 1.25x recorded speed. It's a great way to experience the VN in an accelerated timeframe but, you can't put 40 hours into 12.5 without missing some things.
