I think the combat for this game is okay, but it's nothing special. It's another generic genshin/ZZZ type ARPG where you hit the enemy a bit, dash and run when they do their unblockable attacks with the red warnings on the floor, and then keep hitting them some more until the shield breaks, and then you punish them with flashy, seizure inducing attacks.

It's the closest thing to a hack and slash Bleach game we have, if only the combat were more complex.

It’s laughable that idiotic fanatics from reddit were spreading lies that Kubo had been seriously ill for a long time after the ending of manga. They assumed that was the reason why he cancelled his visits to the two foreign manga and anime festivals: Lucca Comics & Games Heroes in Italy in November 2017, and then Magic Monaco in France on February 24th 2018. It seems that in fact he was already healthy enough and simply got scared to meet the fans. Recently Kubo gave interview about his work for Sakura Wars game for Famitsu magazine. And there he admitted that he began working on the new project in November 2016. Just a couple of months after the Bleach ending he was healthy already and started drawing new designs. Also he had interview for Japanese show Ari Chat ww just before his planned visit to France in February 2018. He stated there that he already got better and healthy by the time of interview. But then he nevertheless didn’t come to France, just as he cancelled his visit to Italy in November just a few days before the event. Kubo didn’t even notice that he gave inconsistent statements. So, it’s clear that his made up illness wasn’t the reason for cancellations. It’s pretty obvious that he was scared of inconvenient questions from the fan meeting and overall negative reaction, because he ruined the ending of Bleach. He must know that Western fandom reacted to that shitty ending much worse and more aggressively expressed their complaints than Japanese. He was practically hiding from the public for two years. And he had no reason to call off his visits besides his own fear of fans and their dissatisfaction. He must have been thinking that they could openly tell that he is a garbage writer and srewed up his own manga. Overall it’s evident that his supposed illness (if there was one in the first place) was simply an excuse.

TYBW was a complete mess! This is the first time I didn't like anything design wise from Kubo. When I read the manga chapter with HOS reveal, I was like "Wow, that looks like fucking dogshit."
All the quincies had horrible designs, the fights were boring, the powers were terrible, everything about that last arc was a failure. Kubo's strongest ability is his designs, and when he loses that then you know the guy lost it.

It looks better in the game, but that's not saying much when it took years to get used to it.
