The masculine urge to pamper a weird autistic girl thatโ€™s very sweet and approachable, but also fussy and difficult enough to be fun in a moe way that isnโ€™t annoying.
Sheโ€™s also very cool and hogs all the exciting moments. This makes her a nice combination of a moe autist and a captivating hero you want to see save everyone and flex her power.

>approachable

She is literally described by Kyon as being unapproachable in Surprise.

>How would things have been if Nagatoโ€™s and Asakuraโ€™s positions had been switched? If the silent, unapproachable, book-loving one had been the class representative, while the smiling, sociable busybody had been the sole literature club member?

Which makes sense considering how dismissive Nagato is towards attempts at small talk, and the only way to get her to talk to you properly is to bring up something she considers important, rather than unimportant busy talk.

Yeah but remember how difficult she found it to accept the club presidentโ€™s invitation to visit the computer science club, needing encouragement from Kyon to muster the courage/confidence to accept the invitation to do something that she is clearly extremely passionate about, shown especially well in the anime with the final shot showing her pretending to type on a keyboard.

When I say that she is unapproachable I mean that she has a fundamental difficulty when it comes to forming new relationships, and struggles with and doesnt like casual conversation, not that she is a cold bitch that is dismissive towards others.

Which is completely in line with her being autistic.

She is but she isnโ€™t. In the context of the story, not many people really knows what sheโ€™s thinking, or seem to be into her silent treatment. Itโ€™s framed as weird, making her unapproachable. But to the viewer itโ€™s meant to be cute. And we already know her silence isnโ€™t a negative indicator. So from that objective, outsider lens sheโ€™d be very pleasant and easy. But some random dingus from north high might be turned off by her personality.

This implies Yuki can not only speak English, but is fluent enough to understand a really difficult book in the language that even native speakers barely understand.
Specifying the print of the book is interesting, because it rules out the Japanese translation. I forget when, but Kyon did mention she stopped reading translations after a certain point.

>I forget when, but Kyon did mention she stopped reading translations after a certain point.
He mentions it in "The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya", Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody. It is a page or three into the chapter.

>Next to Koizumi was Yuki Nagato, buried in a book and showing less emotion than an animatronics puppet in some B movie. It appeared that the reticent and curt pseudo-alien had finally developed a taste for reading original texts instead of their translated versions. The book she was currently reading looked like some kind of ancient and heavy spell book with a title scribbled in some kind of Fraktur script I couldnโ€™t decipher. Iโ€™m pretty sure it was written in ancient Etruscan or something. Nagato would probably have no problem reading a Linear A inscription on a stone tablet.

I do wonder whether Nagato has a harder or easier time learning a language. Communication and insufficiency of words seem to be something she consistently brings up as a frustration. This could be because of the DITE's ability to communicate concepts directly as opposed to using words, or because she was created with limited social function. Either way, language in the way us humans have constructed it seem particularly foreign to her.

I could see the future faction using Asahina to manipulate him. I think Koizumi even suggests the possibility at one point. But if I were Kyon Iโ€™d be one shotted by Yuki instead in this scenario. The future faction would be annoyed and frustrated that the weird alien has me on a collar and leash instead of the beauty they sent to woo me.

Either way, language in the way us humans have constructed it seem particularly foreign to her.

I think its both, there are quite a few moments throughout the series where it is very clear how she would like to beam her thoughts into someones head as a form of communication, not to mention the topic of her presentation to the first years in Dissociation, but it is also made abundantly clear that her lack of social skills make it more difficult for her to speak to people in a normal fashion, and specifically brings up Asakura as a point of comparison as someone who does not have this issue.

>>281678345
I mean even if that were true, we now have Intuition which is long after she has decided to be the one in charge of her own destiny, and she is acting towards T in the exact same way she was towards the computer science club president regarding the exact same topic of visiting another club.

Humbert never defined what a loli is; he only described "nymphets", which range from 9 to 14 years old. The term certainly does not fit every girl-child, even if they are within that age range. Yuki would neither fit into the age range nor any other criteria.

Still that is not within the 9 to 14 year age range Humbert gave. Also, it is not entirely accurate to say she was created only three years ago, as she has the body type of someone closer to 16. She has also lived through roughly 600 years (that we know of) and has the knowledge and experience of someone much older. Stating "three years ago" does not really make sense when there is time travel involved.

Furthermore, Dolores Haze, whom Humbert clearly considered a nymphet, was not well-read in the slightest. Humbert was frustrated that she was only reading comic books instead of highbrow literature like Arabian Nights. This clearly does not apply to Yuki.

>She never knew what it was gonna be next.
At least, that is what she says. Also, can't she create a more general nanomachine? Just saying. However, I would not blame her for being a bit loose with the truth.

Kyon is just speculating, and it is not uncommon for Yuki to stare at things for long periods of times for seemingly odd reasons. Although it would not surprise me if she had that ability, especially given that data transformation is what her organization is good at.
Anonymous No.281701348 >>281701498

Itโ€™s factual information for the reader being delivered through Kyonโ€™s speculation. Thereโ€™s a distinction between what the protagonist is literally saying, and what the author is saying. The whole ending of the story would be meaningless if it werenโ€™t actually true. Itโ€™s basically the punchline.
Anonymous No.281701498
>>281701348
Sure, but meta analysis of fiction feels a little boring. Also Kyon being an unreliable narrator is something that is actually being used throughout the story, him feeling the need to emphasize that it is mere speculation shows that Tanigawa may only wish to draw a simple outline of her possible power, but leave the extent of it to the readers imagination. However, in this case Kyon's "speculation" is almost certainly correct.
