On April 5, 2025, Liberty Island ran in the Dubai Turf and finished in 8th place. Sunday Racing president Shunsuke Yoshida then accepted an invitation to compete in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong on April 27, 2025 and instead of returning to Japan, Liberty Island traveled from Dubai to Hong Kong to compete in the race, where she was euthanized after sustaining a life-threatening injury. And the ultimate tragedy was that Liberty Island was immediately euthanized by Hong Kong staff without waiting for Liberty Island's Japanese staff to be with her in her final moments. This really shocked Japanese horse racing fans and made them think Hong Kong horse racing culture as too cold blooded and damn Sunday Racing for forcing Liberty Island to die in Hong Kong instead of her home country, Japan.
