This was really good, imo.
Nezuko using her demon art, usually a destructive thing (fire) borne of a destructive creature (a demon) to burn away another demon's poisonous blood and save, not harm, a human was pretty thematic to who she is.
She's the anti-demon, and with this action she's behaving like it.

KnY is asspull and plot armor personified. The issue stems from 2 major problems:
1. Premise. Humans fighting supernatural beings. It only sells the fights one way with super regeneration letting demons hang with swordsmen, but humans can’t take injuries or they die.
2. Length. The mangaka wrapped up the plot at warp speed after grabbing the anime bag. Human characters couldn’t grow their powers naturally over many arcs and so had no choice but to rely on insane asspulls and awful writing.

Manga ending at that length was planned from the very beginning.
Back when the series had just started, the author explained the entire cast and story outline to the first editor, Katayama, who then said it would take a little over twenty volumes to reach the conclusion.

It was healing fire which is also very destructive against demons as shown amply later on. Very impressive what is just a little bit of Muzan’s blood and not a SINGLE DROP of anyone else’s. You're probably too young to remember, but a lot of people on /a/, myself included, were astounded at Type-Moon shit's insane popularity back in the day. What it boiled down to was that Japan experienced a cultural movement that went gaga over this doujin circle which went mainstream, sort of like a fairy tale story for Japanese fans; no one would care today, but back then it was a huge deal in Japan. The weebs, which dominated /a/ and fandom back then, latched onto the hype train for NO OTHER REASON than it was popular in Japan. We are seeing something similar (not the same) with KnY. It got huge in Japan because Ufotable (and other publishers) found the perfect market formula in Japan and managed to create a success story out of the IP in Japan. Weebs brought the hype train over here, but, also in general the Ufotable production is universally normie low-IQ market friendly so that helps it a lot.

This is something people tend to forget, but the first season of KnY actually had almost no promotional support by medias at all.
When the anime first started airing, nobody even knew it existed.
Only people familiar with Type-Moon thought, “Huh, so ufotable is doing a Jump anime,” and that was about it.
It wasn’t until after Season 1 finished and the popularity exploded that the media finally started jumping on the bandwagon.

That can’t really be said in today’s era. With entertainment being oversaturated and audiences more jaded, it’s actually protagonists like Denji who are more likely to appeal to the masses, while “good boy” types like Tanjiro tend to be dismissed as hypocrites and are harder to accept.

Infinity Castle is like a microcosm of the plot as a whole. Nothing but a perfect string of asspulls and plot armor each and every one REQUIRED for the good guys to win. If even one asspull doesn't go off, if even one tactical error by the protagonists is made, if even one good choice by Muzan is made, if even one common sense action is taken by the Upper Moons, then the good guys are wiped. It's EVEN WORSE than BLEACH. It's so formulaic it's astounding that anyone can't recognize it.

For example, what if Shinobou ran into UM1 instead of UM2? EXACTLY THE SAME OUTCOME, just different dialogue and different cast in the flashbacks. If Gyo and San ran in on UM2, the fight would go no different, asspulls and ability matching would just be updated to make the same outcome happen. So on and so forth. It's THAT bad, worse then even the worst the Big 3 have shit out.

And, best of all, you don't even need to DO the dance, just remember a dancer talking to you about the dance mid-battle to get the ultra technique.

What are you guys talking about? Kimetsu no Yaiba has had heavy merchandising since the beginning of the manga. It was part of Jump Super Push, received a cover recommendation from Togashi etc. JJK is another example of a title that, even before its debut in the magazine, already had heavy advertising in subways and stores. Since 2016, Jump has completely changed the way it sells its titles.

You probably missed it because KnY wasn't hyped worldwide.

I'm guessing you mean this in popularity terms, but I agree with this idea when it comes to the setting.
HP uses (then) modern day Britain and keeps it real. It never has the wizards be discovered and change the world into a modern-fantasy, like say JJK does after Shibuya.
The idea here is to have the British audience believe that maybe, just maybe, wizards are real and this all could have happened. You, the child reading this book/watching this movie, just might get your letter from Hogwarts in the mail when you turn 11 and begin your Wizarding adventure!
I think the same is going on in KnY. Maybe this is why Gotouge never includes the government or has the demons get known to a massive amount of the public.
The idea may have been to make the Japanese audience believe that this all happened.
Maybe, I dunno. I'm just trying to justify why the government were never involved.

Kek.
It’s nothing unusual at all for a new series to get a comment from a veteran manga artist. Are you a first-year tourist just now starting to observe this industry?
And why are you treating KnY as if it were some special exception? Back in 2016, KnY was just one of many new series that looked like candidates to get axed.
Also, for the record, I lived in Japan up until the COVID pandemic and regularly read WSJ, so if you try to lie, I’ll catch it immediately.

Watch as the Academy Awards laughs Demon Slayer out of the building like they did with the first movie. Hollywood doesn't hand Oscars to franchise sequels, let alone anime ones. This is where anime never wins unless you're Miyazaki.
>>281690728
Because they desperately want to be legitimized by Hollywood when Hollywood don't care about Demon Slayer. Aniplex and the core Demon Slayer fandom are absolutely deluded who think money = prestige. Unless your name is Hayao Miyazaki, the Academy doesn't care about anime, especially not the kind that's serialized, loud, and fan-driven. Miyazaki earned Oscars (Spirited Away, Boy and the Heron) not because of box office hype, but because his films are self-contained, emotionally rich, artistically distinct, and culturally resonant far beyond Japan. Even though I personally didn't like Boy and the Heron, I can tell there's a sense of authorship coming off from it with a distinctive voice. I don't feel any authorship from Demon Slayer and the author doesn't have a distinctive voice. It's a TV arc continuation that requires 40+ episodes of homework and thrives off WSJ powerscaling. That's not Oscar material, that's just anime fanservice.

Flow, some Latvian animated film, made €50 million (or less) and still won because it was auteur-driven and emotionally resonant. It didn't rely on explosive box office or hype cycles, it relied on substance. Meanwhile, Aniplex thinks a few $200M box office headlines in Asian markets are going to make the crusty old men at the Academy swoon, lmao.

The film is made for Kimetsu fans and is a continuation of the story, not a standalone film that can be watched by the general audience. If there’s no spider-lily there’s no reason for him to be there and if he didn’t decide to murder a family for no reason he would’ve found out from Tanjiros mom. It’s the dichotomy of lack of empathy on Muzans side being his ultimate downfall while the compassion and empathy of Tanjiro’s ancestor is what allowed his descendant to survive and eventually carry on their teachings into the future.

Sun-breathing isn't like, genetic. You don't inherit it. It's a technique like Lightning Breathing or Water Breathing, both of which Tanjiro can do. You aren't born knowing fancy sword kung fu.

On top of that, there were dozens of sun breath users in the world back in Yorici's days, he fucking taught them how to do it. He wrote a book on it that survived until present day when Rengoku's dad lost his shit and burned it. Fucking, Koku can use sun breathing techniques!(but doesn't because he hates his brother and is better with Moon stuff) He knows how to do them! Anon's spouting a wild ass theory there. The answer is just he does the demon thing when he feels like it and the was looking for the thing he's looking for all series. That's all he does! Every time we see him on-screen before Nezuko is sun-resistent he's just looking for the flower, straight up does not give a shit about the demon slayers and gets pissed at Akuza for thinking killing one besides the one he told him to is a good thing.

I dunno why you'd add in a weird explanation besides the guy who looks for this flower was looking for the flower where we, the audience, know the flower is and then the guy who randomly makes demons decided to murder a bunch of folks and randomly make a demon.
Anonymous No.281698046

>He gave them a lot of blood which is why Nezuko became so strong
Exact opposite actually, he gave them a small amount of blood while he was tearing them apart, Nezuko got next to nothing and he thought she died like everyone else and just left.

To explain further, the reason he thought she died is the same reason why later he doesn't just explode her head, she's not connected to him like the other demons because she retained her humanity. Otherwise he could control her mind or make her suicide.

The reason she's so freakishly strong is the same reason Muzan's strong and why Tanjiro is a goddamn nuclear warhead who would be even stronger than Muzan when he becomes a demon, they both got exposed to the same flower that turned Muzan into a demon, but they didn't inject a half-baked formula into themselves. It's growing on the grave of Yorichi's wife, not directly stated but likely because she had it as a medicine when she was sick while pregnant.

Reicarnation: you are fucking dead, but your soul (or something else depends on the religion you believe in) goes into a cycle and finally be reborn as a new person in the far future.
Coming back to life means like DBZ shit, you die for 5 seconds and then coming back in that same body.

No, and I'm not going to answer that intellectually dishonest question, because the manga sold 200 million BECAUSE of the anime
>Regarding the series' sudden huge success, Weekly Shōnen Jump editor-in-chief Hiroyuki Nakano stated that the manga sales shot up straight after its anime adaptation finished, explaining that a large number of people watched the series through streaming services after it ended rather than watching it weekly. Nakano also stated that currently is harder for a manga series running in the magazine to become a hit, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba despite having started in February 2016, did not became a major hit until late 2019, adding that its "success hinged on word of mouth generated after the anime's run".

That logic doesn’t add up.
If it was all thanks to animation, the manga wouldn’t have hit 200M copies on its own. Other series with great anime, JJK, Spy x Family, CSM, Oshi no Ko, Frieren, never reached KnY’s numbers, and CSM’s sales even went down.
If anime alone was carrying, explain that.

What was actually nonsense was him just no-selling Douma's freezing particles because his lungs are tough or something. Even without the cold immunity Inosuke was blatantly supernatural and is hard to take seriously in the context of the manga's premise. I actually try to avoid discussion scaling and vs topics re KnY because of how horribly asspully made-up-on-the-fly it always is. It's somewhere between Bleach and Fairy Tail, that's how awful it is.

My favorite series is sitting comfortably in the Top 5 most valuable media franchises on the planet ever and is worth more than...
>One Piece
>Naruto
>Bleach
>Demon Slayer
>My Hero Academia
>Jujutsu Kaisen
Combined together. It’s SO big and TOO powerful that Shueisha are trying to sabotage it because it overshadows every slop they pump out.

Just like Torishima said about SnK leaving a lot of noise but ZERO impact, Demon Slayer too left a lot of noise but ZERO impact. It's a series that lives and dies by Its anime and the second Aniplex are done milking it, the franchise will die and get memoryholed. Especially Muzan’s family, who cares? Once they’re no longer useful, you can be sure Muzan would have eaten them all.
The only thing that’s a bit curious is Tanjiro’s father, but even that can be explained simply as: “this man alone was exceptionally gifted.”

Speaking about the quality of the story, Yes.
After the train arc and the introduction of the Upper moons, the story improves a lot.
Mostly due to the simple but effective lore getting unraveled step by step, the pillars being good and likable characters and the Upper moons being a real threat of a evil team.
Red light district get really heavily into how big is the gap between slayers and the UM.
You may find Swordsmith village a bit of a slog tho, since it is kinda the second worst arc after natagumo’s mountain in my opinion, but is very solid and introduces a lot of important things for the final arc.
The final arc, at least in the manga, it was great. So if your opinion over the story improved, the final three movies will be a wild ride for you

UM6 is a threat, but only at the level of a Hashira + some support. Only UM1 is a serious threat who carries a hard requirement of multiple Hashira to even stand up to. UM2 and UM3 only required a Hashira + support. UM5 even required only a single Hashira. So, all except UM1 can be easily handled by the Corps. UMs turned out to be just Espada -- hyped like crazy in the start of the arc but ended up being Captain to Captain + support level. The Corps maintained superiority up until Muzan -- who SHOULD have wiped them, but plot requirements can't let that happen so I tend to ignore it.

The Shinobu fight was trash. Ridiculous asspull. Here's how I'd asspull it in a much more engaging and dramatic way. There's no master plan to poison Douma via vore. She fights with her poisons, loses, and gets vored, the end -- except it's not. When Kanao and Innosuke show up, Douma has a great idea, and he spawns a clone....of Shinobou. This causes Douma to split his strength with the clone just like with Daki, Hentengu, etc but he thinks it's fine because these enemies aren't that strong. Demon Shinobou has the mind of the original except twisted by Douma who amps up her anger and directs it towards Kanao and Inosuke. What follows is a highly emotional clash with Demon Shinobou raging at them for their retardation, uselessness, weakness, blaming them for the reason why she had to fight Douma alone and turned out like this, etc. They go through an emotional ringer, but ultimately find the strength to move forward no matter what -- which makes Douma finally get bored with the play and effortlessly knocks both of them down. As he's about finish them off, his head suddenly falls off. Shinobu had cut it off from behind. With her demon strength and Douma splitting his power he wasn't able to resist being beheaded. Shinobou's rage and will had overcome Douma's control for an instant at having seen her beloved students stand up to overwhelming odds. But it's not over. Because she was still Douma's clone, she had to be beheaded as well or he would regenerate. Through a tremendously emotional scene Kanao and Inosuke take her head off and share a final goodbye as she dissolves away along with Douma.

Because if that were allowed, this anime, which puts Japanese culture front and center, would end up reaching MCU-level worldwide box office numbers, and that would be extremely inconvenient for the CCP.
The Chinese love for KnY is on another level.
It was also in China that pirated screen recordings of the Infinity Castle arc, filmed in Japanese theaters, spread widely on Chinese websites.
And not satisfied with that, nowadays there are even countless Chinese people going on “Kimetsu tours” to Taiwan and Hong Kong just so they can watch it in theaters.
