Rudeus (in the LN) is hands-down the best isekai protagonist from what I've read by far, but he's not even in my Top 3 anime MCs. He's like my Top 4 and there's a very huge powergap between him and the Top 3, same goes for MT as a series, its my favorite isekai but its not on my Top 3 but only Top 4, and even as a series theres a huge powergap between it and the Top 3, so dont take this post as excessive fanboying, but yes, Rudeus (in the LNs) is the best isekai protagonist in the genre. I like Mushoku Tensei. Rudeus is based, generally optimistic, filled with wonder at the world he is in, and when he is glum he bounces back pretty quick. The show doesn't dwell on him being a sad sack. Also characters tend to react well to him being strong and cool instead of rewarding him for being a depressed crybaby.

Boys should not watch Re:Zero because it sends the message that weakness and crying is desirable and will be rewarded. Whereas Mushoku Tensei accurately shows that being a crybaby is unappealing and strength is desirable.
