This is so fucking peak and would be amazing if fleshed out more. A yandere gf acting as an antagonist for an arc before joining the family is something I really want for the main series but it'd be really satisfying to see the idea used in a movie.
Adding to your story: I don't think the Yandere would die or do anything too violent unless we're going full Baron Omatsuri with it and letting the director be as experimental as they wanted. Even still I think a satisfying ending would involve a direct confrontation between her and Rentarou where Rentarou spills his heart about his own experiences with unrequited love from his past rejections and tries to reason that the emotions she feels aren't love, but simply lust or a passing crush that she should let go in order to heal her heart. All the while the girl dashes around, hurling attacks at him in a one-sided fight scene mirroring her one-sided love for Rentarou. Rentarou stands firm, enduring it all until the girl goes in for the killing blow. Rentarou squeezes his eyes shut, and opens them to find the yandere in shock, unable to plunge the knife into Ren. She asks if Ren can see it now, the unwavering love for him that stays her hand. She couldn't kill someone she truly loves, so truly that love is real, right? Rentarou's surprise quickly melts into a gentle gaze, finally seeing her not as a threat, but just another girl in love. He pats her head and begins to comfort her, aknowledging that she really did love him in her own way that was special to her. The girl, finally feeling Rentarou's gentle touch, begins to break down and cry. Rentarou apologizes and asks if he hurt her. The sobbing girl says that actually... these are tears of joy. When Ren asks why that is, the girl replies "I'm thankful because it felt wrong." She then goes on to say that Rentarou's kindness is genuine, but it was only when he reciprocated and showed her affection that she realized he wasn't her soulmate. (CONTINUED)
