StrikerS was the last Nanoha series where they really nailed the main and supporting characters. Really, we didn't realize it, but the problem wasn't character bloat; it was that too many characters were interesting. You had the Forwards, you had the Numbers, you had Hayate's knight harem, and then Nanoha and Fate.

Everything since then feels like it was trying to catch that lightning in a bottle by having pieces and parts of StrikerS but never the whole package.

Strikers is the last Nanoha entry I genuinely enjoyed. Afterwards Nanoha became a side character in her own franchise until they made the Detonation movies. At this point the franchise is just a zombie.

Being completely impartial, if Nanoha and Fate have something going on, probably started between StrikerS and Vivid. Nanoha is gushing over Yuuno in episode 8 of StrikerS and they take Vivio together to school in the epilogue. Even Fate seemed to ship Nanoha/Yuuno. The thing is Yuuno disappear from the franchise and Nanoha and Fate are living together in a house in Vivid so we can fanwank something change between StrikerS and Vivid (actually it was focusing even more on waifufags)

In third person they have been referred to as each other's special/most important person, after StrikerS, in primary material, but they're almost always referred to as best friends, which I think we all can agree is the most important aspect of their bond, before and after becoming a couple.
All things considered, this franchise has always been about friendship and about the different types of families at its core, it was to be expected to that main characters wouldn't just end up in an average heteronormative Japanese family unit.

The problem is that Nanoha evolved, or devolved if you wish, along the magical girl genre. S1 wasn't so different from the typical stuff little girls watched back then but something was off for pandering to male otakus instead of little girls. It's even established a love triangle between Yuuno and Chrono compiting for Nanoha, even if it never gets focus for again pandering to male otakus. Things started to change in A's by erasing the love triangle and instead making Yuuno into Nanoha's simp. That wasn't so different from female lead shows for otakus at the time, Nanoha/Yuuno was a foregone conclusion but the show wasn't going to focus on that. StrikerS introduced more waifus but Yuuno was still there as an option for the otakus who wanted to self-insert as him but the industry changed in the 00s with the rise of CGDCT and secluded all-female worlds full of waifus. Nanoha followed the trends and Yuuno was erased. Basically it's a retcon over another retcon

I like that the only thing that grows about the Dragon Loli is her chest.

Seems like a pretty common opinion that the Nanoha continuity is a mess. I think Nanoha is kind of played out at this point. You can only insert stories like Reflection/Detonation backwards into the canon so much. I even felt this way when I first started watching Strikers. I don't know if there was some manga or LN series that fills in the time in between the end of A's and Strikers but going straight from one to the other is pretty jarring from what I remember.

And does any part of the series continue from Strikers? I never see anyone talk about any of the characters from it when talking about any other Nanoha entry. Other than Vivio.

Maybe I'm weird, but I find StrikerS extremely watchable. In the sense that it's a great show to marathon. It's a "fast" show, in that way.
