Support bullshit modern anime industry that no longer makes art like Angel Egg, you mean?
Most of the money going to licensing Jews, nah I’ll pass
People hail the Dragon Box release as the best version(and it is) but even that release has inaccurate colors due to the film stock aging and Toei not bothering to color correct the series.
The majority of Dragon Ball Z was shot on 16mm film compared to the more standard 35mm. However, there were a few episodes of Z (episodes 73 to 80) shot on 35mm film.
I saw this shit in the cinema and let me tell you it was un-fucking believably good. They really, really don't make em like they used to (not that they ever made em like this back in the day either, this one kinda dropped out of the sky from nowhere)
I hear some western film ripped bits of Angel's Egg off and combined it with live action segments and original dialog to make a whole different story about magic eggs and fallout.

The closest thing I can think of to that is Mad God but I don't remember it having magic eggs. It was a really cool mixed media film though and I'd recommend it.

Angel's Egg is genuinely good even if the rest of Oshii's output was fairly mediocre.

If they have the original filmstock, then you'd never need to upscale anything. Film's potential 'resolution' is massive, when converted to digital.
Its the early 2000s anime that are trapped in low res hell.
