It's mostly just the BDs and Orange Bricks that fuck everything up.
Pioneer, UUE, Levels, and even the DBoxes aren't ideal, but they're very standard Toei remastering efforts. I was able to live with the DBoxes for a good 15 years before Seed of Might's efforts were fully realized, and while the CC are the definitive releases, I could also mentally accept these other releases with their crushed blacks or decayed film resulting in bad colours.
The VA quality on these releases is completely abhorrent though, and I shouldn't be shocked that Toei allowed that to happen, but really, it is a bit shocking that their largest adaptation (pre-One Piece), spanning 508 episodes in its original broadcast run, had such atrocious sound quality.
