This chapter was cute and sort of fun but also bad and I think it's also the chapter that helped me realize decisively that Tatsu has sort of lost the juice. Everything since the month long hiatus has felt shallow and largely pointless and just in fully the wrong tone for the manga. And it's clear now that it's not a week to week thing. Every battle, all 6 of them now, has just been just superficially occupied with character development and is just there to give a cheap win for this or that member of the ever expanding cast. Momo doesn't even sound like herself any more. She's just casually dropping huge chunks of technical explanations while she fights and referencing her own abilities to justify not getting destroyed when she's an inch tall.

I don't know. It's all just too disappointing. The only salvation I can see is that the editors told Tatsu to fill the manga with inconsequential fights during the entirety of season 2 so nothing important would be overshadowed when he finally finished the arc.

I can see how some would like this chapter for getting the fight over and done with so the plot can move forward, but I'm also disappointed if it's over now and we don't get to see Vamola getting a proper fight. So if the fight is short, people complain that it was pointless and it wasn't long enough and X character is a jobber, etc. But if the fight is long people complain that Tatsu is dragging it out and the manga is just SO BORING now (but you still read it as soon as it comes out every week) and that the arc just needs to end already. I love the anime but it really did bring in the most brain-damaged faggots imaginable. I can only imagine this is the first time they've ever read a weekly manga as it comes out.

In between these arcs you would have inconsequential fights, but those fights would still at least have time dedicated to fleshing out the characters (like Serpo and Momo teaming up against the "have you dreamed this man?" guys). For a long time now, its just been fights with nonstop 'action' but very little substance. At least the last one had Jiji and Evil Eye developing their relationship, but that's about it.
The formula I mentioned before could not have gone on forever, you can only have so many minor characters in your story, and a main antagonist needs introducing at some point - but the way Tatsu's gone about it with this whole small Momo arc is not doing it for me. I felt WAY more invested in the Space Globalists arc. I cared more about what was happening, the stakes felt higher, the aliens really felt like a big fucking deal. What was the point of this chapter's fight? There might be high stakes given what is happening in the story at the moment, but it sure doesnt feel like it in this chapter. There wasn't even a good gag or action sequence to justify it being a one-off fight, it really just felt like filler. Really, I think this fight is just a throw-away idea Tatsu is using in order to separate the group again.

The problem with tiny Momo is that the manga hasn't had a breather for a while. Normally Dandadan had tension and relief, a mixture of action and slice of life, but we've been at the tension stage for a long time. The DDD fandom is one of the few I've seen asking for slice of life to come back already. And even then it's not unlikely it won't end until 2026, since the hammer arc started 8 chapters ago.

I finally got around to watching the new anime episode and it's honestly insane to me that the will they won't they is what people think is the main series draw. For me, I'd rather just see them together doing shit as a couple instead of all this pussyfooting around. It was cute as hell watching Momo grab invisible Vamola and having her direct Okarun on where to hit.

I'm so tired of them being split apart purely because them being a little team is so much more fun to watch than them working with the other characters that they have almost zero to no chemistry with.
