I hope we get a summary like last year. I'm mostly curious as to how the show treats the super form summoning toy. Hinata may not be my favorite, but this was a beautiful episode. Hopefully she'll manage to get 60 on her tests in the next 9 episodes!

Summary for the anons that need it, part 1: Test scores are in. Chiyu and Nodoka are doing good, and Hinata is headed for summer school. Every attempt to cheer her up only leads to deeper depression, before suddenly Hinata remembers! Its friends time! The other two sit stunlocked with their mouths hanging open as Hinata takes off. Hinata meets her friend, and its incredibly awkward. In attempt to catch up, Hinata shows off her precure friends, but the girl stands and heads off, making sure that Hinata knows she is Eriko, not Elizabeth. Hinata is super down the next day, and the girls try a few things, only for Hinata to proclaim she WILL go to the same high school as the other two. To explain, she takes the other two through a vision of her future where Nodo and Chiyu get more and more sophisticated, while Hinata goes to a poor high school and becomes an ultimate dunce. The girls deny this vision, but that night Hinata tries to study, and gets distracted, several times, finally passing out. The next day she begs the girls help and they set up a sleepover. Chiyu's hard repretition fails quickly, and Nodoka goes through her storyboarding mnemonics. It seemingly works at first, until Hinata's undiagnosed ADHD takes it off the rails. Her efforts at least makes her snooping dad happy. As the girls get down for bed, Hinata's phone rings and its the friend wanting to meet again.

Summary part 2: Next day they meet again, and its still super awkward. Just as Hinata offers to leave, Shindoine attacks with terribly forced nicknames. Hinata can't fight as her friend pulls her off to hide. While they hide from the MoTW, the friend explains how Jealous she was of Hinata, and she misses her Natasha. Just as they makeup, the MoTW goes for the two and Grace steps in. Fontaine and Earth save the two, by separating them so Sparkle can join. The Cures slowly come together, and perform another weak cleanse. Afterwards Natasha introduces the other girls to Elizabeth. The next day Hinata is failing harder, but reaffirms her goal of the same high school.

Shindoine's stupid nicknames were making me snicker so hard. I don't know why. Maybe the forcefulness, or maybe just the sheer stupidity. Either way I loved it.

Its been a while since Chiyu and Nodoka teamed up, and its a little off now. While Hinata thought they worked well together in the long term, this episode really shows some subtle friction between these two. Its not bad to have friction, but Chiyu was a bit put off with Nodoka a couple times.

There are some things in the communications I can see her taking wrongly and make her frustrated at Hinata, but overall that whole interaction was so frustrating. Poor Hinata's mental getting so nuked for innocent interactions. At least the girl apologized and admitted to her frustrations.

Most of the time they are irrelevant side stories. Off the top of my head, HC's movie is somewhat relevant by focusing on a character that's relevant to a different character's backstory but is otherwise unimportant whereas Suite's is definitely canon and wraps up an important character's arc well, but the season mostly works without it. Maho's movie to the original series is only important because an insert song used there is used again in the show, but Maho 2 does reference both the solo movie and the crossover movie so they are both canon... well sort of when it comes to the crossover at least. A similar case is the Doki movie which isn't all that relevant to the season itself but is definitely relevant to the Doki novel.

I remember this episode mostly because I pegged HG as a season that wasn't all that heavy on the yuri only for two childhood friends to start referring to each other with princess pet names. In my experience watching DP, while I personally don't really like the arc where she transitioned between villain to Cure, I felt like once she actually joined, she made the whole team feel more complete and I ended up enjoying DP overall more.
Meroron's bit of a different beast though. I would say rather than making the team feel more complete, she made the team feel way more chaotic until episode 30, but I will say I also started liking the show more when she came along, and I still like episode 31 more than most of the Pre-Meroron episodes.
