Don't be mistaken, anime is rapidly bleeding fans and not gaining anymore.
Anime's popularity peaked with One Punch Man. In 10-20 years everyone is gonna move on from anime and only the hardcore fans will be left.
You can already feel the air shifting, many anime "FANS" I know no longer keep up with anime except for 1-2 popular shows, back in high school they used to watch everything.

I have a job I spend 9 hours a day at then sleep for 8 hours I dumb nigger. I watch what I want throughout a season and nothing more. Who would want to consume a whole modern season when it consists of

>2-6 shounen romance or haremslop
>1-3 "comedy" anime
>2-3 worthwhile shows

Fucking lol, neither the talent or interest in the audience side is there for that to happen. Both Marvel and DC have been handed a new generation that loves superheroes on a silver platter thanks to their movies and neither were able to capitalize on it at all. Even the best Batman issues sell comparably to the lower end of manga in the US.
