You mean acid tabs? They're usually a little quicker than pills at around 20-40 min (pills tend to take 45-60 min), so yeah still not close to "instant", and much slower than snorting powder. In my experience, liquid LSD that you just drop in your mouth is the fastest, while tabs still tend to take around 30-45 min.
It's all about how quickly it'll enter your blood. The acid can enter "directly" through your cheeks or under your tongue (sublingual or buccal absorption) which is why it's a bit quicker than regular pills that dissolve in the stomach.
Finally, the type of substance matters (obviously). Both in how they chemically affect your body, but also in how you perceive the effects. A classic example is mdma which, when taken on its own, feels sooo slow. You might need 90-120 min before you feel it in extreme cases. However, when taking Ecstasy, where mdma is the main component, it usually hits much faster. This is (to my knowledge) due to Ecstasy usually containing faster-acting substances that have a more easily discernable effect like amphetamine and cocaine
