Haibane Renmei is by far one of the worst animes in the early 2000s - an era of washed out AI pisstone, 2deep4u psuedophilosophical depressionslop, Haibane Renmei stands out as the worst among them.
There's no plot, the storytelling is glacial, characters become suicidal for no apparent reason, shoehorned Christian symbolism - with such a dogshit storytelling, no wonder I turned it off after 10 minutes. "you just don't get it" is the only response Haibane Renmei's sub-70 IQ fannbase is capable of mustering.
The show appeals to emotionally stunted narcissists and forms an echo chamber for those who think they're special and profound because they aren't capable of emotional regulation and tolerating the discomforts of day to day life. Protip: you're not special, you're a burden on others- stop complaining or hurry up and kill yourself.
If someone mentions liking Haibane Renmei, it's a dogwhistle for proving that their opinion simply isn't worth listening to.
