In a world where everyone gets automatic cheat skills instantly at 10 years old, why would anyone ever try the hard work route which has no guarantee of even reaching the most basic level much less reproducing intermediate or advanced skills? And then to learn more advanced skills in your class you have to use your skills over and over. Thus trying anything else regards your normal growth.

A) magic exists in this world and is the basis of those skills
B) no one knows how to teach channeling because how do you describe the indescribable?
C) dude has gotten a master class in how to channel all sort of ultra high level magic from his mom and dad
(Both are the absolute top tier) and he wouldn’t have figured out how to do this without Reiner.

Basically without the foundation of seeing the highest level stuff up close for your whole life, you’d never be able to make the leap.
